Default FRONT WHEEL SIZES

I have a set of front wheels from Douglas. All I can see on them is a 10X5 number. I presume that this means a 10" diameter and 5" width....However I can't find a tire that is to be used on a 5" wide rim. How wide a tire can you put on a 5" rim? Also are the front tires supposed to be 21" or some other diameter?

Sorry for the elementary questions.....

I run 10x6 on my DS with a 23" front tire. You can run the 10x5 with no problems. The stock tire size is 22" in front and 20" in rear.

So on a 10X5 rim you can use a 10X6 or 10X7 or 10X8 tire? How far can you go before living on the edge?
