what make the ds650 cheap
The DS may be Less Expensive for a number of reasons:
1. Hardly any warranty claims
2. Mass production - don't know if they can claim any more than anyone else
3. Exchange rate - yep, it does effect price. Honda Automotive just raised their prices because of it.
4. Less parts - have you ever taken apart the Raptor engine? That thing has way too many parts.
5. More efficient production - if you can make twice as many units on the production line as the competition (all else equal) your cost/unit is less
6. Who knows - any or all of the above or they just aren't making as much profit as Yamaha. . . who knows.
It is interesting how inexpensive the old Honda 400EX is these days.

Yeah, Its great! Just picked one up for my daughter to start learning how to use a clutch. Got it for a song.
