Default Mr. Hp. 11.2:1 JE piston ring endgap tolerance?

I know that the je 11.2:1 piston endgap is .022 inch new but what is the wear limit on these so when i take mine apart at the end of this summer i can tell if it needs to be replaced or not? thanks fellas Oh yeah i have the fast break in ring package, the cdrom says 1.0 mm (.040) inch is the wear limit would that still apply to these rings? thanks

I was giving Mr. HP a chance to respond before I threw in my .02. I don't think you are going to see much wear between the ends of the ring gaps because that is not a point that is exposed to much of anything that will wear it down. It's possible that hot blast of burning gas passing repeatedly past the ring gaps might abraid the surfaces over a very long period of time, maybe a builder will chime in and share some insights. In the future I would just check the health of your cylinder by either a compression test or a leak down test.

ok thanks major when i pulled my motor apart back in november and measured my endgap they both were 1.2 mm thats huge the guy i bought it from must have had a lot of hours on the motor lol

you measured them fitted into the jug 1" from the top?

the manual called for 16mm 5/8 inch from the top and that is how I got 1.2 mm's i have .022 inch on my new set, I plan on pulling it apart at the end of the summer and I wanted to know how to tell if the rings needed replacement
