Default Rear sprocket is offset, ... why?

I was adjusting and lubing the chain today on my 2005 DS 650, and I noticed that the rear sprocket, or rear sprocket mounting hub, are not centered. If the sprocket is in one position the chain is too loose, but if the sprocket is turned 180 degrees the chain is too tight. Nothing looks bent, and everything rotates smoothly and quietly, and I can't feel any vibrations riding the DS. When I jack up the rear of the DS and rotate the rear tires I can visibly see that the rear sprocket is not centered. The sprocket mounting bolts are tight, and have never been removed, as I am running the stock rear sprocket.

Anybody know what causes this, and what it takes to fix the problem?

Thanks,

DesertViper

Check your axel bearings.

Well I determined that the problem had to be something with the axle bearing in the back of the swingarm, which requires special tools to replace properly, so I took the DS to the dealer to have him do the work. It turns out that I have a broken and worn axle bearing in the rear of the swingarm.
