cometic head gaskets for the TVi motor?
I haven't heard of resurfacing to remove the whole groove. I'm going to fill the grooves with machinable (sp) epoxy and machine the epoxy flat. I'm only going to remove material if it is out more than a couple ot thousandths.
Big Show, this is a TVI.

Don't laugh, but I took the thick plate glass off of our coffee table to the garage. I taped 320 grit wet or dry sand paper to it and had at it. I went slow and careful and used blueing to see the low spots. It worked great. Remember the more you take off, the more you change cam timing. Keep rotating the head to keep it level and use even pressure on both sides.

I believe I used the .050 Cometic. The copper that I replaced was around.043. If you use the Cometic be sure to change out the stainless 0-ring TVI puts in with a copper one. It seems you can also get the cylinder decked to remove the o-ring groove and use a thicker, or 2, base gaskets to get the deck height back where it belongs so you don't have to mess with cam timing.
Good luck to both of you. Let me know how it works out.

Big show, The gasket that we ran on the SAmcoe cylinder was an.045 thick triple metal Cometic Gasket. If you run the .065 Cometic you will drop your compression down to around 12.8:1 Roughly. Stick with the .045 Cometic and you won't go wrong. Also do a squish test and make sure your clearances are correct.
