My father just bought a Traxter XT and the dealer told him that it will do 55 mph. I think that is bull but what is the truth. What is the top end even on a normal Traxter.
Thanks

That number is about right, I've only had mine up to about 50 mph, but I am not interested in the top speed as much as its ability to do work.
The utility area is where it shines real good, we have compared it with other ATV units, none come close in the area of traction, ability in mud or over all grunt power. NONE, others have bigger engines, claim all sorts of wonderous gimmicks, but are not even in the same ball game.
Prove me wrong!

yam8, that about right. I have a regular Traxter with hand and windshield. It takes a long stretch like a railroad trail, but I got it up there. It's uncomfortable on gravel going that fast and I did not keep it at that speed, just sustained about 5-10 seconds.

I have had my traxters needle buried(60 mph) several times. I had my wife verify this by following me in a car.
My traxter xt will go 60 mph easily!

I own an XT, the speedo reads about 55mph wide open. I think around 52/53 mph
is what it actually speed. No way will this do 60mph. But I didn't buy it for speed. SprintPusher hit the nail head, I ride with a Sportsman, Kodiac and a Rancher. It out performs them in almost all catagories, just don't expect to win any drag races...

Hmmmmmmmmmmm...ever heard of an AC 500????? well..i have one and i KNOW it will outperform a Traxter XT or the original Traxter. i have topped mine out going 60mph (thats what the speedo read) of course i dont trust speedos on ATVs cause they arent that accurate. If they are...than my griz was going 68mph.

ANYWAYS...back to the subject, The AC 500 WILL outperform the traxter (not the XT) in ANY obsticale (spell). Whether (spell) its drag racin, climbing, muddin. Know when it comes to a Pull off...i would PROBABLY give it to the Traxter...ONLY because it weighs about a ton.

Just my Opinion

To answermy own question now, he had the XT next to me on my Grizz and it does 92-94km's. So that would be 55mph. I was really shocked on what the top end is. It takes alot for it to get there though. For the cat sorry but that is bull, my buddy has a 2000 500 cat manual and we've had him up to 75km's, that's it.
For the mud it rocks with that front diff it has, the only thing because of the weight it has to be ridden aggressively. But it does rock. Oh ya and it is very good on fuel, it burns less than my grizz, but my grizz runs by them.
And the machine seems to be reliable too.
there ya go.
