Default white film in oil tank, anyone else had this problem?

has anyone had a problem with white film on dipstick and in the neck of the oil tank? my oil is clean but when i check the oil it always has a white foam looking substance on dipstick, thought maybe the vent coming out of the valve cover might be causing the problem. what do you guys think?

You probably need to replace your water pump seals.

How's your coolant level been?

Get on to This Site!!! I suggest getting the kit from BMW as the impeller for the shaft is already mounted. . . be sure to ask for the kit like that.

There is a weep hole below the water pump. It goes up between the oil seal and the coolant seal (there are two seals on the shaft.)

Get it done. . . you don't want your that stuff down in your cases where you need the oil working for you.

Does your bike sit outside? I have never had that happen on my Ds, but I have it all the time on my Grizzly and also on my airboat from sitting outside. I keep my Ds in the barn so it's covered. I usually keep my Grizzly in there also, but when it's muddy (like it usually it), than my old lady won't let me put it in the barn. I would most definitely check your rad fluid though. Thats the last thing you want.

That's your water pump seals going. Replacing them and the shaft is no big deal, follow the directions and use the right type of grease. I don't see it much on the forums anymore, does anyone know if Bomb improved the shaft quality or seals on newer bikes?

go here pics and look at the pic of the hose barb on the waterpump wheephole. if you're gonna have it apart to replace the seals and shaft (definitely do both, don't replace seals and reuse shaft) then its best to go ahead and do this mod.
I had a lot of sand and dirt up in my wheephole, and the shaft was badly scored from the sand. I think I pushed it up in there carwashing with the bike standing up!
