Ford is spouse to put a diesel in the 150's in 07 or 08 i not sure. But we think its going to be a weak v6,with like 200hp?..Well i guess 200hp isnt so bad in a half ton? I think the frist PS were what 220 when they frist came out?..

I was getting 9 mpg in town, in my Dodge reg cab 4x4 with the 360. I was running an equivelent to a 36x14.50x15 Super Swamper. If I had the trailer and quads on, man it really gulped the gas. I swapped back to my stock tires, and now I'm getting around 13 mpg in the city. I'm going to Buttercup over the 15th - 17th...so I'm wondering what I'll get on the freeway...hopefully at least 16 mpg
NickDS650...one thing you may want to consider, if your running bigger tires, is regearing. I have 3.55's, and with a taller tire, the gearing just blows. If you compensate for a taller tire, your mileage may go up. It may not be enough to make you ecstatic, but it's an option.

Yea, i think mines gettin bout 14 city and i calculated 18 on highway drivin 80 miles doin bout 70mph, i do have a K&N on it and tires r just to expensive to worry about 1mpg diff, but tru the Dakota wont get that big a diff than what im gettin right now. I agree Bigger, id love to get a Diesel!
My biggest point of debate is since i can get $15000 for my truck i should do it before it depreciates anymore that way i can have a brand new Dakota for only a couple thousand bucks

Have you driven one yet? I had a loaded Tacoma, and I loved it...but there's no way I could go back to a small truck like that. I was actually looking at upgrading...I want either a crew cab f250 powerstroke, or a Chevy Duramax. This regular cab, with a baby seat in the middle is not the greatest. I'm probably going to wait at another year...Chevy is coming out with some pretty cool stuff.....

Here in OKlahoma, you can get a new loaded out Cummins diesel for 25k. these trucks get good fuel mileage and have a pretty darn good resale value also. I still wish they would make offer the cummins in a half-ton trunk. I believe these new Half-ton frames can handle the torque of the new diesels.

Dodge can keep thier HEMI for the cars and wagons, but they should'nt sell a truck unless it has DIESEL power(and benefits that come with these new diesel engines.)

That price rock's, especially if that's for a 4x4. Here in Tucson, they go for over 40K. In my humble opinion, the cummings is the best Diesel... unfortunately, I've had a bad experience with Dodge, that'll keep me from buying another.
My '96 got broken into, and the dash, and door panel's were destroyed in the process. Dodge no longer makes these part's for my truck...they couldn't even locate any new ones with any dealer.
I had to put a crappy used dash in my truck, and have my jacked up door panels half @ssed repaired.
If I needed the equivalent parts in a Ford, or Chevy, I could get them in a week.
I love my truck, and otherwise have no complaints...I think a straight axle is the only way to really four wheel.. That's the reason I was considering the Ford. I like the creature comforts of the Chevy, and so did the wife. I plan on keeping my current truck, and will someday go "stupid" on it..a big block, a bigger lift, better axles, etc.

Edit: I agree about the Hemi... One of my riding buddie's has one..I'm not impressed.

The cummins is a nice diesel. To bad its in a dodge. I had a 99 2500 cummins. They just doen't make a good tranny, I went through 3 tranny's and I didn't tow much then.

Yea, thats really the only thing id haveta say is a major downfall on the Dodge, their trannys are crap, but i heard they addressed it for 2003 and up models. I dont think u can beat their diesel, i love them, heard one go thro town a while back, had stacks on it, sounded like a full big rig comin at ya, was awesome !

Even the 1500 tranny's were crap...I had mine rebuilt, with better parts, and I've never had a problem...probably just jinxed myself...lol. I used to do alot of 4 wheeling, ran the bigger tires, etc, and never had a problem. I need some u-joints now, starting to make a bit of noise.

One of my nephews works for ford R&D and he said the V6 diesel was still a good possibility and even thought the hp isn't as high as the V8 diesels the torque would be pretty good, never did say exactly what it was rated. He did say they had been some test with the V6 mounted in a superduty pulling a 34' fifth wheel and it did pretty good. I wish they would hurry up and get it out in the epidition, the excursion might get sold then.
