Here is an old mechanic tip for you guys!!! When you have a phillips head screw that wont come out: get a small jar of valve grinding compound from any parts store. Fill the head of the screw with the compound and insert the screwdriver in the screw and tap the end of the screwdriver lightly with a hammer, push the screwdriver down like hell and turn, works 99% of the time. The valve grinding compound takes up all the extra space in the screw head, and has grit in it to grab. I do this all the time, here and at work.. I HATE phillips screws!

Not that I needed it but it would be good to know what grit grinding compound you recommend. It will keep my wife from getting pissed at me for having her hairdryer hanging on the garage wall.....lol

The NAPA jell type is what I use, and I know what you mean, my wife has a "heat gun" for her crafts, and that thing is dang handy, boy have I got in trouble for sneaking it into the garage

You can also take a small chisle and place it on the top of the bolt off to one side, hit it and make a good groove in the head, then place the chisle back in the groove and angle the chisle so when you tap on it it will push the head counter-clockwise. This will break loose almost any bolt I have ever had a problem with. I would use an easyout as my absolute last resort. Try all other things mentioned first. Easyouts are a tough tool to master and be able to get them to work 100 percent of the time. And the first time you break off an easyout in a bolt you will be like me and probably never use them again.

when i was in the service working on helicopters we used the comet bathroom cleaner it comes in a gritty powder, dip the tip of the screw driver in water then dip it in the comet and try turning the screw head, it worked for me for 4 years
