What do you think "Hoax"?

I am having a hard time believing that that all of these axles have no grease in them. Or maybe it's just the dealers down here. I took my DS to the dealer and of course heard that there was no grease in it. I have 160 hrs on my bike and there is no way that those bearings held up with no grease. So then I get a call from my buddy today and both his and his wifes '05 Ds's had no grease in the axle. Come on did Bombardier not grease every Ds? Or do the dealers get paid from Bombardier for the labor? I just think that somethings not right on this issue. I really wish that I would have taken the time to tear the rear end apart before I took it in, just to know for sure. What do you guys think?

There would only be one way to be 100 percent positive that there is or is not grease and that is to tear into it ! Thats great for the dealer , they get paid to find out if there was a problem or not!

I don't think its a haox. When a recal gets issued its because there are several units that have had a problem. For liability reasons it makes sence for brp to pull the units in and check them out for peace of mind. IE.....not every ford truck and suv that had firestone tires was going to have blow outs. It made sence to take those tires off though to prevent any more tragedy and lawsuits........its just for cya purposes...

I don't think it's a hoax either. I pulled mine apart just to look and what I found was "under greased" bearings. There was some grease on them, but you could see on the sides of the bearings where it had been hot and the grease was solidified, but not burned up or anything. The bearings are probably ok but since I have it apart I'm replacing them and the grease seals. My dealer is a car dealership that also happens to sell Bomb's and Sea-Doos and is also 40 miles away, so I just ordered bearings from McMaster-Carr ($17 Apiece) and grease seals from Richards Recreation (haven't gotten the bill yet, but they're not much) and I'll do the work myself. I'm sure I could have had all this done for free at the dealer but I don't mind paying a little bit for the piece of mind knowing the jobs done right and my bearings won't lock up when I'm going 75 miles an hour!

It's 6677K23. Their website is: Mcmaster-Carr website Mcmaster-Carr isn't the cheapest place to buy stuff. I ordered from them because I placed my order Friday and will have them Monday. If your not in a big hurry and want to save a few bucks do some shopping around. Look for Timken bearings part number 32008XM.

No hoax! Mine siezed up while riding about 40 mph after I guess about 15 hours of total use. After the dealer took it apart, the bearings were totally fried. I didn't get to see them or ask how much if any grease were on them. Trust me, you dont want to have this happen on a ride. For peace of mind, take it in.

Hey guys I think that I worded this wrong. I didn't mean that Bombardier was the one hoaxing, I meant that I kinda think that the dealers are saying that it's bad, even when it's not.
