I've been doing a lot of research by looking at the campsites, maps and rules. Although it is true that I dont like the fact that there are restrictions in the paved parking lots, I do in fact see that there are indeed a number of improvements this year over years past.

1) The vendor row section is easily accessable to a large portion of RV campers and sand campers. Several years ago this was not the case.

2) The RV sections A and B are outside the sand entrance - thats a good thing which allows responsible drinking there.

Given the layout, There is probably no chance of searches at the main gate. However, Im not convinced that it wont happen further down at the sand camping check in. But, given the fact that they have so many RV camping areas available for those that wish to drink responsibly, and still good access to the sand and the vendor row, its probably a good compromise.

Do I think its the best solution for me? No. I just hate having restrictions in place for those that use the dunes for day use. I realize that a lot of effort has gone into this, much more effort than in years past.

I will probably attend - and may even take McGee up on his invite.

Marky

Couple of questions, now that it is getting close to DF05.....

Sound Checks?????????What's the word?

The whole search question? We're sandcamping and don't want to deal with the BS. (Please respond WITHOUT the "holier than thou" crap! )

We're looking forward to this event. If it is a good experience, we'll consider spending our hard earned bucks there next year too!

Whoa on the no search answers!!!!!!!!!!! Actually, this year, there are areas in Winchester Bay where alcohol is permitted as it would be any other time of the year, but not in the sand. So, sandcampers may be subjected to some sort of assurance they aren't bringing booze in. I'm not sure how they will do it, but I just don't want folks thinking it's ok this year and then have a crappy experience. Double check the website instead of taking my word for it, though. Good luck!

You can take all the "shootouts" and put them in one bucket and you won't have beans.

Getting close. We will be leaving Friday for Oregon and Dunefest with a couple of stops on the way. I am ready to get out of this heat. It has been over 100 degrees for more than a week and there is no letup in sight.
We are going to be camping on the road where the vendors were last year. Lots of activities this year. I may try the hill climb again and hope the turbo bike breaks. LOL
Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Well one more week and I will be there!!!!!!!!!! get there tue night and set up in camp c wed morning for the rest of the week. I will have a travel trailer and red toy trailer in the sand with the boss down at salmon bay with the sand hotel so it stays clean Im hoping that some more big bores show other than HPR and TVI. Not a lot of smack talking coming from the TVI camp, hope all is OK My son and I have got the 2 shees about ready for action (14mm and 20mm) should hurt the eyes and pride of some Eric will be bringing the 2 800s to spank the comp into submission-----hhhhhhhhmmmmmm -----but with that light framed turbo monster coming ya just dont know what might happen!!!!! So Im hoping to have my laptop with cell service to give a blow by blow of the action (i hope) If no service in the sand a cell phone call to some will have to do Just a warning -------BRING YOUR BEST GAME------- and dont blow your wad to quick so ya can last the week of racing!!!!!!!! Looking forward to seeing all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and good luck if that has anything to do with it
