Am I ordering the correct paddle tires/wheels for my DS?
#1
I am about to order up some Sand Stars form www.recreationtires.com, but am not sure if I have the correct backspacing. This is what I have in my cart:
22-8-10 2PR SAND STAR tires on 10X6 4B+2N 4/143 .190 Douglas Aluminum Wheels.
22-11-10 2PR SAND STAR tires on 10X9 3B+5N 4/143 .190 Douglas Aluminum Wheels.
I think the fronts are ok, but the back has a 3+5 offset on a 9" rim, how is that possible? 3+5=8. Plus wouldn't that make my rear end narrower?
Any help is appreciated.

That is a great setup for all around duning. I have the same set of tires myself. I would go for the haulers if I was dragging or hill shooting only but not for an all around tire.

I already have the 22 inch rears, and am ordering the fronts soon. What did the front mounted stars cost? they are 165 from rocky on douglas .160's.
We also ride silver lake, and are heading to little sahara and st anthonies in 3 weeks

I just got back from LS OK with that same setup from rec. tires. Never got stuck once and climbed the face of a 75 footer. I ran a few drags and kept up with some modded shees. Only thing that helped him was his haulers off the line and then he couldnt pull away. I mainly rode the trails around there and they were awsome tires, turn on a dime and slide around perfectly. Once I got the hang of the dunes I was keeping up and pulling away from a 400EX with a much more experienced rider than myself on the tight trails. Hill climbs the DS with sand stars couldnt be beat. This was my first time at the dunes and I went up every hill I could find. After I went up a few of the steep ones with a run I would try them again without a run (make it tougher) and with a 14T front and second gear I walked right up them.
