Oil light HELP! Need clarification!!!
#1
I only have about 12 hours on my new 04 X, anyway I was riding wheelies today in my backyard and saw my oil light come on. I had my buddy tow me up to the garage to let it cool down, after it's cool I start it back up and the light is still on. Check the oil and it is fine.
So I come in here and run a few searches and see the oil sensor is a problem. So I just went out and started it, RED light still on, I pull back the rubber boot and unplug the sensor and the light goes out. Does this mean my sensor is bad or is my bike not getting oil? The inside of the rubber boot was a little damp.
SOMEONE HELP!!!
Thanks,
Josh

I think you just answered your own question, a little H2o in the boot = a closed circuit. To be certain, grap a flashlight and peer into the oil tank and with the bike running make sure you see a stream of oil from the return oil pump going into the upper section of the reservoir. Dry out the sensor and plug it back in.

Question is how can I check to see if the sensor is bad without replacing it?
Man, I have a trip to Silver Lake planned for Friday, hope the dealer has some sensors!
