Default lighter rotating parts?? tires??

i want to go with smaller mx tires (18"rear, 20"front), lower ground clearance shouldn't be an issue with me. i've read somewhere the rear stock ohtsu mr 501 weight about 15lbs each. if i was to go with something like ITP holeshot mxr4, they claim they weight about 10lbs each and holeshot 20" fronts which should be 2-3 lbs lighter each than front stock 22" with stock non-baja rims and maybe 520 chain with aluminum rear sprocket, 2-3 lbs lighter, that should be roughly 20lbs lighter rotating mass than stock 04 setup. would that make a noticeable difference??

20lbs less rotating mass will make a noticeable difference without a doubt.....

It would be less rotating mass......I think you will hate the way it handles though. I ran 21 inch fronts for one day. I couldn't get those things off fast enough...You will have major clearance issues with you swingarm if you have a skid plate on it....just my.02

I have 19" and 18" setup with ITP holeshots and you definilty have to love the new feel and drop in weight, the ground clearance is a small issue if you ride anywheer where you will have to get over small trees or obstacles, but it just takes some practice and patience. Everything will have its pro's and con's if you would like to see pics of how it will look let me know

You could also shave your rear hubs, its not much but every little bit helps.

u could go all out and the the RADMFG titanium axle to really save some weight and go all aluminum parts like the hubs, sprockets, a light chain, etc.

So to get the DS on a good diet, other than the standard Pipe and such, lighten the hubs, change the Brake and chain hubs to Aluminum, and go with a 520 chain sprocket, is a aftermarket swingarm lighter?? Im guessing the aluminum subframe is for the racers hill shooters, does any one yet make a lighter axle stock width or wider?
cant see other than trying to change any steel parts with aluminum.
