Top speed stock for stock on flat land - DS. Up a dune drag - YFZ. The steeper the dune drag, the more advantage the YFZ has. I've seen both of these senarios hundreds of times.

Marky has it 100%.... flat drag, should be DS, up a dune, its yfz all the way. I am within a bike length of my buds yfz...but come dune hill climbing, they haul past me. (I have 40 lbs over one, and 75 lbs over the other, not to mention the bike...which makes my setup about 250+ lbs heavier than theirs)

 

give me a flat striaght away, yfz will be munchin dust, give me a hill i be looking at the back of the yfz saying damn man WTF
but i tell you, nothing pulls like a ds, but those damn yfzs are so fast and rev so quik its amazing there not two stroke lol

 

Yea the weight thing sucks. Bomb has dropped a few and now I guess it wouldnt hurt if I did

I do have my facts straight. No need to go off like that. I have had a V-Force (49.4 hp) and still have a DS 650 (48.6 hp) both figures are based off the MSO for each machine. Something had to be wrong with the tuning of the DS to lose to a Predator.

 

So your a mechanic now. By the way who said anything about a V-Force. HP of the YFZ I think you said I dont think so. I didnt go off I just think your not thinking about what was said. You said you beat the pred but not by much. Could have been the rider. I also said it was not by much but the riders were changed over and over. No tuning issues. I have had plenty of tuning time with most all of the sport machines as well as the high perf machines. What surface were you running on and your weight along with the other guys weight has alot to do with the outcome. The only way to see whats faster is to remove the traction aspect and switch riders back and forth. This makes it fair for both machines. Until you have done this you cant say one is faster than the other or this will start to sound like the Yamaha forums. This is my experience

I looked back and re-read the original post. I offer my apologies as I did misread it as a Predator beating the DS. But I do stand by my info in previous posts.

 

yfz maybe in a short sand drag...BUT, in the dunes hitting g outs, transitions, whoops etc, the DS will always win hands down due to suspension

I was riding last weekend at pismo, and a heavily modded banshee, a trx 450r, and a yfz couldn't come close to doing what I did. I was always waiting for them to catch up. one time, I hit a dune to carve it, and puled out of the top about 2/3rds of the way up, only to drop off about 5 ft. The DS took it like a champ, while all the other bikes bottomed out. the banshee bucked the rider back in the air, and he almost lost control.

Granted, I get my *** handed to me more than I win at the drags, but in wide open, hilly, whooped out, transtional riding, the DS cannot be beat!
