I rode with a stock yfz450 on some logging roads (lots of straits and all wide open) we both weighed in about the same around 220 both of us, i could easily get infront of him on the roads and leave him behind. Take off it wasnt much eithe, he was ahead by about 1 front tire till i hit third gear...i had bearclaws he had bald bald stockers. We were both stock at the time.

we have a DS 650 and two YFZ 450s in the garage. Stock vs stock on level ground the YFZ will consistently beat the DS 650 by one quad length in 300'. Add a slip on exhaust to both machines and the DS 650 consistently beats the YFZ 450 by half a quad length in the same 300' drag race on level ground.

there is no way a yfz can beat the ds in a flat drag, stock vs stock a ds will smoke it on the flats, but u put those suckers on a hill the yfz will constantly beat the ds , its just the yfz revs quiker and is lighter. I would have to say ds has pluses were yfz dont and yfz has pluses were ds dont. Both VERY VERY good quads, specially for the dunes, both very good all around dune quad but yfz beat ds up the dunes in a drag(both stock, modifications may change these standings), but like i said, you give that ds a striaght away and a chance to hit third and fourth gear, yfz will get laid behind, im not sure how far, but i can promise u more then 6 quad lengths, but see the ds dominates in its weight class(heavy weight) and i would place the yfz in light weight class and it dominates that class. LIKE I SAID BEFORE U CANT LOOSE GETTING EITHER ONE OF THESE QUADS, IF U HAVE THEM BOTH.....hehe my friend u got it made in the shade, you wanna drag hold up brb let me get my yfz, ohh u wanna do some roaming and flats and etc, hold up lemme get my ds.......haha it be great[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

my cousin has the YFZ, modded, and in our races its who gets the holeshot to be the majority winner, flat field racing that is, he got the holeshot on me once but i caught him, bigger field [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]
both are just sick machines, i like them, tru the yfz is very very uncomfortable but is a feather weight with lots of horses to thro around
