Default DS @ high elevation

OK guys I just got done ripping a few laps in my parking lot on the DS... It ran hard and perfect for about 5-7 minutes lifting the wheels up off the ground ever time I got on the gas. Then out of no where it starts cutting in and out of power harshly, how do I describe it... like 5000 rpms to 0 rpms in a nano second, then 4000 rpms to 0 rpms, etc., etc.... All the while its bucking like a bronco. Then I had a new turn of events, the DS just shuts off and dies... No lights, no nutruel light, no red light, no matter what position the key is in. I turn the key off and on, off and on... nothing. Normally when the DS is off and the key is on you get the red and green light on, I get nothing will not even crank over.

SOOOOO, I turn the key off and start fudging with all the connections around the battery and rectifier, I then go back and turn the key on and the red and green lights come on!!! So I go right to the starter button and try to turn it over and pop off go the lights and back to nothing no crank once so ever. SO it looks like my 4 month old DS now has an electrical problem... SON OF A BIAAATCH

Thanks guys for the electrical tips, I believe you guys are 100% right on with the electrical problem. I'm taking it in tomorrow morning!

I've seen this when one of the bullet connectors under the dash/tach came loose. Sympthom looked just like a dead battery.

Popped the cover, reseated the loose bullet and was back to riding in no time.

Same thing happened to mine back in 2001.

The tech found that the voltage regualtor was putting out 20 amps instead of 12.

Symptons were popping backfiring while in gear and would die but idled ok.

Got that fixed and later had popping and backfiring with a new full Big gun pipe but that was related

to air getting into the headers cause the gaskets were bad.
