Dealer lied about recall... What to do?
#11
mine used to make a popping sound when i rocked it back and forth, after I ordered new swingarm bushings 56.00 dollars it ended up that my swinarm bolt was loose, I tightened it to specs and everything is good now, you have a torque wrench handy check the nuts to see it they are tight to spec just my .02

Just be the better person...call down there talk to the service mngr...in a cool calm tone tell him whats up and then rather than demanding something ask if he has any suggestions and what the best way to resolve the issue would be for him...make it about how he wants to do things and not what you need and you may find him easier to deal with

Where do you get the torque specs? my swing arm is making the same noise and I need to try to tighten the swing arm bolt but need the torque specs.
Thanks, Scott

definetly check the bolt is tight , mine was loose, just back off the outer lock nut and pull up the inner nut a decent amount of force on a stock size ratchet should do, then lock up the outer nut again.
as for the mechanic saying that axel bearings failing could effect swing arm bearings , he is one of two things , idiot or liar

take the outside nut off torque the inner nut to 74 ftlbs then back it off a quarter turn checj to see if the swingarm moves freely then apply blue locktite 243 to the threads then torque the outer nut to 74 ftlbs and call it good

Well guys that is exactly what it was, the nut was loose on the swingarm pivot bolt. He still completely disassembled everything, greased it, checked it, and got it back to me today, so I am ok with that. When I brought up the recall, their excuse was that before they can sell the bike they have to put the vin into Bomb's computer system and it will say if it had any outstanding recalls, they say that none showed up. So its a he said, she said and since I would rather stay on the good side of my closest dealer I didn't get into a pissing match. It is finally fixed and let's hope that I don't see them for a while.
