ds650 rev box
#1
does anyone ahve a problem with a stock rev box on their ds650s. i just got mine about a week ago and have hit the limiter 5 times. i try to stay out of the rev box because when your with your buddys it sounds liek you cant ride when it hits. i have never had to install a rev box on any of our other quads. i think im going to on this one, it just seems that it is set very low at 7700. what do you guys think about the rev boxes and what kind would you get? right now im lookin at one at alba that gives you a 1000 more rpms and it is cheaper then most.

King,
A lot has been said regarding CDI/Rev Boxes here. But in summary, I think some people have had a few problems with the ones put out by Procom. The timing seems to be a bit too advanced at low RPM, causing some detonation or pre-ignition. A few have reported problems with starter damage. That being said, I think Procom has done some improvement over the years. The Procom box is also relabled under several other names like Big Gun, Alba, and White Brothers - with slightly different ignition timing curves. I dont know of anybody with problems from Big Gun and White Brothers, but its certainly something to consider since they come from Procom.
There are others out there, MSD, Vortex, Ron Wood Racing. Ron Wood's box has no rev limit. Vortex has 10 preset curves with different rev limits, and MSD has probably the most flexibility of any box
Thats the summary - You might do a search for REV BOX or CDI to learn more about what people are saying.
