World Of Power Sports - Decatur Il

I tried to order just a clutch lever for a ds650, and was told bomb didn't sell just the lever, and that I had to buy the assembly {lever-perch-wires} for $60. I order the assembly. The more I thought about this, it seemed stupid that bomb didn't sell just the lever. So the next day I tried to order just the lever from J and S in Lincoln Il, and they could get one for $30..................................WTF.......... .................................So I get the assembly, and call w.o.p.s. and tell them I will be returning the assembly, and told them why. These rip off artists want me to pay a %20 "restocking fee". I'm driving an hour and 30 mins to w.o.p.s. tomorrow to give them a piece of my mind in person. Anyone who does buisness with World of power sports in decatur il, will get the shaft. It makes me wonder how bad I've been ripped off by world of power sports in the past.

midnite,
restocking fees are common, so you won't likely get out of paying it. you might see what that part would sell for on ebay - you might be able to come out ahead of what it will cost you in gas and the 20% restocking fee.
I guess the rule is to call around before placing that order. Sorry to hear they did that but it is worse out here in LA. The MSRP on a DS650 Baja in 2003 was like $7100 or something I spoke with a dealer that wouldn't sell for less than $8600 OTD, and he had no trouble selling them at that price. I bought my DS at another dealer for $6900 OTD. The high priced dealer / stealer was Hollywood Honda (no suprise there) I'm sure their rent is high, but man - that is sick profit and people pay it when they don't shop around. You know someone who lives in Hollywood has to drive a couple hours to get anywhere they can ride that DS650, why wouldn't they drive 30 minutes to save $1800?!?!?!
I'm not sure I would go too 'off the handle' at WOPS - your best bet is to calmly talk to a manager and tell him you are extremely displeased and that you probably wont be giving them any more business if this situation isn't handled properly. Give them the chance calmly (very important) to make it right.

Yeah, it's my fault for not shoping around. What sticks in my craw is the low down and dirty aproach of saying they can't get just the lever. Sound advice blackhawk. I'm not going to make an @ss of myself at wops, but they will get the point.

Well, wops offered to drop the restocking fee, when I told them in person another dealer can get me just the lever. Really suprised me, and was a honorable thing for World Of Power Sports to do.

That is very good to hear that they stepped up to the plate and gave you good service. I don't think I'd cross them off the list of places to call when you look for parts, but just make sure they aren't the only place you call. It is great to hear you came out OK in this.
