How expensive will this fix be?
Was out at Pismo and let our babysitter ride around on my wifes 2001 DS.
Anyway, I think the clutch is now fried.....
You can put it into gear and watch the clutch actuator pull all the way back but when you let
it out, it doesnt go anywhere and the engine still runs.
What all is invoved and how much do you think it'll cost me?

I don't think it is a huge job - not as quick as an oil change but not as bad as pulling the engine. You'll drain the oil, put the quad on it's side, then loosen a bunch of nuts and go to town. (You had better get instructions from the manual or someone who has done it though!) Now would be a GREAT time to get the heavier clutch springs if you have been considering them - though you said this was your wifes ATV so perhaps not.
I think clutch maintenance is considered slightly more than routine maintenance as for cost - the clutch that Mr. HP recomended to me was like $150 (I think it was the barnett) however the stocker is less, perhaps closer to $75 in parts. If your quad has a lot of hours on it then the clutch was probably ready to go anyway, and the babysitter just 'helped' it along.

This may sound funny but make sure the lock nut that holds the sprocket is still on. I had it fall off on my warrior and it did the same thing. So I went out and bought a new clutch for the bike. Installed it but still had the same problem. Lo and behold when I checked to see if the sproket was stripped I saw that nut had come off. $4.35 to fix the problem, $115 for a new clutch I didnt need!

AZDUNERAT brings up a good point. A few trips ago while I was at Pismo my friends raptor made this horrible grinding noise under acceleration, of course I thought it was the raptors infamous transmission or clutch. It turned out to be his counter sprocket had no teeth left! Cheap and easy fix.
If factory plates and fibers along with RWR springs cost $200 then it may be cheaper and have better results with the barnett 9 disk system
