What is your 1st impression of the new Outlander 800?
I picked up mine today and it cost me $8,600 (tax not included) for the XT. Your price is way off. I'll bet that when the standard models come out in Sept. you can get one for under $8,000 out the door and I live in CT, one of most expensive states in the US.
No offence but you can modify any big bore you want and it still won't offer the overall performance like an 800 Outty!!!!!!!!!!

i rode one a couple weeks ago at the dealer preview in and my dm said it topped out at 82 mph. on his gps. driving it at 25 mph and i hit the throttle and it spun the rear tires like crazy. you basicly steer from the rear end of this machine. its awsome.

I've had a PRODUCTION 800XT Outlander for about a week now and guess what low-end power is better than the preproduction units ridden by my dealer friend (in his opinion). I ridden and ride with Prairies, Brutes, Grizzlies Sportsman’s and KQ's and can honestly say the Outlander is the best overall ATV on the market. The owners of the other machines have tried mine out and said it is unbelievable in power and ride and to top it off they really like the way it looks.
You can spend all the money you like on the others but I don’t think you still will match the OVERALL performance as the Outty.
Wonder if it will be even faster when it's fully broken in!!!!!!!!!!!
I would guess a regular non-XT would be even faster because of less aggressive lighter tires and lighter weight.
Price I paid for mine $ 8600 US (tax not included)
Stay tuned for a big ride Sunday.

Rode the 800 xt today in Milford N.Y. It was fast, smooth, rode and handled great. The dealer sells Suzuki and Polaris also. He said they draged it with one of their king quads and it immediately jumped to a 5 length lead and made the king seem like a 400. He did say that the king was as fast out of the hole as the polaris 800. I,m not sure I'll buy one may be too fast for my needs, was wishing they would come out with something in the 650-700 range. I have an outy 400 and love it but wish it had a little more speed.

650 Outty is just around the corner, fall maybe spring.
I posted this on the Kawasaki forum when asked if I felt the 800 Outty is that good.
After riding every big bore and owning a new Outlander 800XT the new answer is without hesitating the BRP 800!
Went riding Sunday with 9 buddies and after switching back forth from different bikes EVERYONE said the 800 was the fastest and best handling bike they ever rode.
I couldn't wait to get back on my 800 it is that good, smooth controllable power everywhere.
Went through a high speed whooped out section that would throw the bikes all over the place but on the 800 I could double jump straight from whoop to whoop it was cool. Racing down trails and seeing a pile of rocks ahead I would wheelie over them or hit the first rock and completely jump over the rest. Darting through trails and hitting obstacles was made so easy with this machine, it gives you confidence maybe too much.
Guess what gas mileage is incredible it had the most gas left in the tank even beat out 400 Outlanders with a quarter tank more gas, the fuel injection plus not having to give as much throttle to go fast must make all the difference. The bike isn't even broken in!!!!!!!!
