Default 730 install help

Finally got all the parts and started putting her back together. I got the piston on and was sliding the jug down and it just stopped. About 1/4' from the case. I didnt want to force it so I pull it off and removed the piston (man Ihate those c clips) . I put the jug back down on the case to see what the problem is. It looks to me like there are two little bumps in the case the wont let it all the way down. I can feel them, there directly in the middle of the case on both the exhaust and intake sides. Im not sure what to do I think if I filed the outside of the cylinder it would probably seat correctly. Its only about 1/4' from going all the way down. Im going to call 222 in the morning but I thought I would post this any way. mostly out of frustration I really wanted to hear it run tonight

Sandaholic, Did you have this problem when you did yours?

No cyclider head just the jug. I was looking at the stock jug just now and its turned down a bit at the bottom of the cylinder.

Is the piston on the rod already? Those C clips where a pain. If the piston is not on yet it would be pretty easy to see the fitment of the jug in the case. Compare the new jug to the stock jug. Do you see anything obvious that would prevent it from fitting? The part of the jug that slides into the case, is it longer or shorter then the stock jug?

It sounds almost like they sent you an 800 jug. The only difference between the 800 jug and the 730 jug is that the 730 jug has a machined down lip that goes into the case. The 800 needs the longer lip due to the longer travel of the rod/piston. That is why the 830 needs the case clearance for longer lip.

I would not grind anything! If they say go for it, I would send it back if that's whats necessary and make them deal with it.

I was looking at my pictures on my web site on the 730 install. On the bottom of that page I have to stock and 730 jug side by side. Notice how much shorter the lip is on the 730 jug then it is on the stock jug.

There both about the same length. Your right your jug is way shorter. I finally gave up and went back to the house . I will measure them tomorrow. Looking at your pics its way different. Im going to call Randall first thing. I dont want to do modification to it, They said ity should simply bolt right up. Im sure he will just send me another as quick as he can. I seriously running out of time if Im going to make dunefest. I had it all together ie new piston on the rod, it just wouldnt fit. NIce web site by the way I will try to post some pic's when I get it done. Thanks, Keith
