is there any forums that could help me out? I have looked at several companies frames and have found some for around 3 to 4 thousand then I have to get a motor and tranny for roughly 5 to 6 grand, I have a buddy that can do all my powder coating and chrome for free, I just need a little help getting started, I would liek to run really fat rear tire maybe a 330, and a big fat belt drive, something I can get my pantleh cought in, thanks fellas, it is probably gonna take me 3 years to build it, maybe I should try to find a basket case

Hey dave. If you want some top notch chopper goodies, check out rc components. They sell rollers, frames, wheels just about every thing. I searched and reserched for a long time before I built mine. The craftsmanship is second to none from rc components. They will make your frame with any stretch, rake and drop that you want. Thats cool you can get free powder coating and crome. Just remember that it gets pricey super quick when building a bike. The main thing I can reccomend is set a budget and stay within that budget. If you want the most reliable and affordable horse power, check into a harley 88 cube and tranny. Also, the open 3 to 4 inch primary you want is about 3 to 4 k alone. If you can, ride some bikes with fatty tires. I realize that fatty tires are cool, but........the ride is aweful. If you are building a show bike/bar hopper, the fatty tires are cool. If you are building a bike you plan on taking road trips with, I would suggest going no bigger than a 240.....

cool thanks I will check, I guess it will cost me approx, 18 thousand to build my bike in the end, I could save up and buy one but what is the use then? where can I get an old harley frame like the ones the army used? or an old indian frame? build with a fat front tire and flat black with brushed aluminum like russel mitchells bikes

they sell rolling chassies for alot of chopper styles, that offer you from just a frame, all the way to a frame, tripple trees, forks, controls, rims, cables, and so on. like if you liked the fat ba$tard style, with a 300 rear, and a 38 degree rake, you can get a rolling chassy for around 5 g, going up 1800.00 or so for custom rims. this is the rout i,m taking. slap in a 100 c.i s&s motor, with a sweet 6 speed, for aboult 7 g more. -pay about 1 g more for a softtail( good for the long haul,)and if the powder coating is free, then all ya got is paint. a basic color with no flames can be had, a great job, for about a g. so, decked out, you could look at around 16 to 19g.
another step you could do is buy a bike in a box. it is everything you need to build it. swapping out this or that is not a big problem. it all comes in a box, crated to a shipping yard for ya. i have looked at a few, for prices ranging from 14 to 19 g. this would include custom rims. you could go old school ,with a old style chopper rigid, for prices around 10 g shipped.
good luck
