You don't HAVE to own a DS to camp in the same area - Marky rides a 400ex and he is welcome in our camp. Why bother camping next to some strangers when you can camp with a group of people you've driven a couple of hundred miles to see? If you go off on your own thing, why not just go some place local - it'll save you the drive.

I agree that the group ride after the picture would have the best turnout - however we're all supposed to go help clean up the place at that point... (Friends of Sand Mountain cleanup day.)

 

Blackhawk is right. Last year was awesome and everyone there made me feel welcome. If you know about DS Days, you are welcome to hang out - its always been that way, and I for one, predict it will continue to be that way. There are plenty of guys that are going that dont have a DS - Like most dune trips, its just as much about people as it is about the machine - whether you currently own one or not.

 

I did express to them that they were welcome to park in the area. They were not sure if they were or not. Sand Mtn IS local for us (3 hours away). Its not a big deal though if they do decide to camp elsewhere. I plan on hanging out at both areas.

Cleanup is all day Saturday. Why not do a 1hr ride following the picture then do the cleanup? Just an idea. Once everyone scatters for the cleanup you'll have a tough time getting everyone together at that point.

The wind should clear up anything from this weekend.

Sand will be very dry and light for next weekend - typial for this time of year.

Early morning and late evening rides will be the way to go for group rides. It will be warm through the day.

 

I talked to a couple of friends that were up there Wed-Friday of last week. They said it was a little warm during the day but the wind covered up all the ruts. By evening the wind died down and they pretty much had the whole place to themselves. Nothing like riding on virgin sand after a good wind comes through.

Well for those who have been following my escapades trying to borrow a trailer, pull vehicle, Ice chest and shade tarp, well I thought I had a handle on everything.....But now it may not happen.... [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img] I was supposed to borrow my sisters red Expedition but she told me Sunday that it was a lease and she had to take it back by Friday. Just grab a motel in Fallon. Thats what we are doing.

 

ODP: It's not where to stay that is the problem. If need be I'll sleep on top of someone's trailer....LOL The problem is getting the Quad out there!

I'm still calling in favors, we'll see what happens.

 

Everyone is talking "clean up day" is Saturday. Is anyone going to be able to go out riding and spend some quality BS time on Sat? My group just has gone from three 05 DSXs to 4 '05 DSXs coming for the day saturday. We are planning on rolling in around 9 or 10 am.
