Default Down on torque

Thats a really low torq # for what your making in Hp. My bike pulled 58hp and 51ft. lb torq on tvi's dyno. That was with the stock head. I myself was going to go with the CT pipe but 222 talked me out of it. Its a more top end pipe. Lowering your compression probably didnt help either. I would try the stock pipe with an open end cap and see what it does. I know the HR3's are a mid to high cams. It just seems to me that you should have alot higher torq # than what you have now.

If I had to guess, I would point the finger at the CT exhaust. I had the graydon proline (same as the CT) and it was a great top end pipe. I got rid of it because the finish deteriorated and the joints leaked like crazy over time. The HPR crew told me the graydon/ct pipe is a very good flowing exhaust which has great top end but sacrifices a few down low. There suggestion to me was either the stock can with an open tip or a slip on such as the HMF or Yoshi because I ride trails and general all around dunning. I went with the Yoshi slip on and had the stock headers coated. No dyno to show any changes but I feel it definitely put more power where I normally use it.

How much did you shim up with the gasket set to lower compression? You may have screwed up the valve timing. Just a thought.

Timing would be a good thing to check. Pull you valve cover and a spark plug. Put a big zip tie down the spark plug hole and rotate the motor until you feel the zip tie come all the way up and start back down. get it to its highest point (tdc) then check your timing. you might be a tooth off. Fast easy trick courtesy of Kelly @ KMS. I did it by using a small machinist ruler in the hole and a piece of flat bar across the top of the head so I could easily measure the highest point. Yea I know you can do it by the stator but this way you dont have to pull the cover. You can also do it with the crank locator pin but Kelly said he has seen them be wrong before. This way you can be sure its on. Seem like a possible solution, good idea Cardiac.

Thanks all. Great ideas
Yeah Scott at West Coast ATV is doing the tuning. Good guy to work with. He is a Bomb dealer and I believe his own DS is a HPR 730.
I talked to him yesterday and he said they were at 56HP/37TQ. Said they couldn't get very accurate A/F readings with my disc encap exhaust. We seem to agree that I should at least be breaking 40ft/lbs, if not in the mids even with the lower comp. and exhaust.

Never thought about the timing but I'll mention it to him. He said he was going to fax some dyno runs over to Randall next week to see if they could come up with any ideas.

Torque reading does seem a little low but you are also running a bigger/more top end cam with a compression of only around 11.5 - 11.7to1. In order to bring your torque numbers up your going to have to either run a 14.1 comp or change your cams. Thats the sacrafice of running on pump gas. I doubt if the timing is off, I was very meticulas with the build, used the tdc alignment tool and spoke with Randall on all aspects and specs.

Here's a little comparison with Scott's dyno. With my 450r, I produced 51hp & 34ft lbs with a 13.1 piston & top end cam, 41fcr & PC pipe.
I know this kinda of comparring apples & oranges here but the 450r is a pretty torquy little 4 stroke & running similiar type of mods except with more compression.

IMO, I think the answer your searching for is more compression.

If you have any questions or need any help just PM me or give a call

You can make plenty of torque with 11:1 pistons, I use RWR A1A2 cams TM45 carb and a pami 11:2:1 and HMF and the dyno I hit gave me 42#torque and 49HP. my torque starts to drop around 5,700, and HP around 7200.

what RPM's do your numbers start to drop DSengineer?
if valve timing was off the numbers may appear outa the norm, the rpm's I mention are pretty typical, as well as hp/tq comparisons. HPR will probably be able to help when they see the charts.
