first ride on elka's
#1
i sold the kings off my hp730 machine (want to start flat tracking again and the Aarms were +1" wide which is illegal for my class) so i just cleaned up my stock arms and put on a set of dune edition elka quad spring shocks. we have a mx track we built at a friends house the takes about 1 1/2 minutes to get around, this track was run mostly by a 400ex so it's pretty narrow. at first the shocks were way to soft in the corners and would roll under in the turns(still have a plus 2" swing arm with worn razor's), so i titened the dampening up all the way in the front and kept to rear soft. what a difference i was able to shave a total of 3 sec's off my time by the end day and run the 3rd fastest lap time of everyone there, the old tank did just fine!! are they worth the $2500 price tag? i'll know more when we go to the dunes in oklahoma over halloween and do some real jumping and high speed runs.
p.s. i still miss my king shocks

It would have been real interesting to have had some lap times with the King shocks to compare to your lap times with the Elka shocks. Now that would have told us something . What were the two faster machines?

I love my Elka Dune Edition shocks on my EX. But to be honest, unless you had money to burn for the best, I have a hard time justifying them now. Ya, they look cool, ride pretty smooth, and are pretty adjustable. But I've also had problems with them and problems dealing with Elka. So, while I think they are good - I dont know if I would do it again.
The new Fox Shocks are interesting. I think some research into those would be a good thing.
