Chain Maintenance
#14
raptorgav thanks for the informative thread,
I have an 04 DS and always found it to be a P.I.B. to stop what I am doing once geared up go out warm up the chain and gears, come back spray some lube on the bike, making a mess to then go ride only to have to deal with the additional mess of spraying off the excess flung oil when I get home thus dealing with flash rust on the chain. Recently I changed out the stock front gear cover with a billet aluminum piece and man there was so much crap up in there that I am now glad I don't have lube up the chain any more. I will spray it off when it looks like its getting gunked up then maybe some dry lubricant to keep the flash rust off.
I guess I kept doing it because of the old school days with the QuadRacer 250 I had kind of required I do it.
Technology is nice when you know how to use it.
This info will make my trips more enjoyable....
Thanks for the info Guys.

just make sure you dont use pressured water directly ON The chain! It can get under the o-rings.
I also like the fact that the chain dosnt really need lubing maintenance, just one less thing to do before being able to climb aboard and give the pig hell
