Just a new guy

Hello everyone, as you can see this is my first post. As far as four wheelers go I will give you a little back ground on myself. I have a 2002 Yamaha Grizzly 660 with a lift, 27" ITP 589 tires on type 6 wheels, HMF pipe, Dyno jet kit, Uni air filter, Warn winch, Yamaha fender flares, Power Maid hand guards, Kimplex dry box and some stickers My wife has a 2002 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO Richard Petty addition with a diamond plate box. My 11 year old son just got a 2005 Polaris Phoenix 200 with stickers and a flag We all ride as a family and have a good time. My son has been wanting to go to the dunes so my wife decided to surprise me with a 2005 DS 650 I bet you were wondering why I was posting all this under this topic huh? I just thought I would share and say HI to everyone. Be prepared for a lot of questions to follow.............
Edit: Time for a "edit" already. What does everyone use for a flag break away? What works, what is junk? Thanks in advance!

Welcome!!
One day I plan to ride the dunes on the west coast. so far the farthest I have been is Utah and Idaho, both of which are extremely awesome to say the least.
Anyway, about flags, I use a flag holder that is nothing more than a pice of bored aluminum with a thumb screw on the side. you slip the flag in the hole, tighten the screw on it. if the flag gets broke it always breaks right at the base, so you just losen the screw, poke out the little broken piece, then stick the flag pole back in. the whip gets a little bit shorter each time and if you kick it off with your foot enough times getting off and on you eventually have to replace the whip.
there are also flags with a flexible spring mount that do not break, but they are not legal in all areas as they bend back oo much under speed and are no longer regulation height if you are really flying.

hey wait a minute, when I was 11 years old I was nearly 6 feet tall, the DS would have been as great for me then as it is now!
you can get the flag holder style I speak of from RockyMountainATV.com in a variety of anodized colors for around $10 I think. or make you're own if you've got the resources, its great to have resources!

Welcome.
You could go with a CB whip threaded into a spring mount. I've run one for years and never had to worry about broken flag poles or lost flags. The springs come in different tensions and sizes by the way.
