I just got another DS i bought a 2005 x, Got a great deal $5200. out the door. This thing is great, its way better than my 03 baja, Im very impressed with this thing stock.

 

Interesting you say its better then the 03 model ?

As I purchased the 04 model as they pretty much had it refined and its dimensions dialed in just right.

I know they have the same drive train but did you Mod the 03 at all ?

 

I swear there is more difference between the 04/05 and the earlier models. (at least more than bomb printed). The shorter swingarm, lighter drivetrain, SS brake lines and shocks all help to make it feel a bit better, but they are definitely quicker than the 03 and older models.

I have an open 03 baja w/ HMF, KN in box and ported intake at the time I raced my buddies TOTALLY stock 05 ds-x, and he is only about one length behind me!

 

My 03 was modded(look at my signature), and my 05 feels so much better, it will easily pull up the front end and im not riding it hard because im breaking it in, where the 03 had a 15 tooth front sprocket and then it would only pull up in 2nd gear it was almost imposible to pull up in third, the 05 turns better and its not as wide and is shorter, it also has better shocks. it feels like it has more bottom and its all stock. i dont think it is but it feels lighter to pick it up, and the heel guards are way more sturdy.

ya I agree, my 03 baja dosnt pull the front end up for beans. I can do it in second, third is a real chore.
