Fuel Injection
#1
How are the advancements comin along wit the fuel injections? I heard that the mapping part was working on being improved. Anyone who has one please let me know how you like it, im considering it for next summer. What parts does it cancel out, besides the carb obviously, but would i still need my intake and air box? or does it come wit new replacement parts specific for it?

im still working on the mapping for mine. its getting pretty cold here so not tomuch work is getting done on the ds and most my attention is on my mach z. everything remains the same except you lose the carb for a throttle body, add a fuel pump, ecm, and somewiring.

I would suggest contacting KMS directly as there have been many advancements, and the only people who know the current info are the ones who have spoken with Kelly of KMS directly - you should talk to Kelly and be one of the people 'in the know' about the latest info.

I would call them instead of email, and you would be wise to have at least a couple of specific questions. I've met Kelly and his wife Stephanie - they are both excellent people; however last I spoke with stephanie she was working a whole lot - it may be that she didn't have time for an in depth email unfortunately. I can vouch for them personally as being good people and if I had the extra money to buy an EFI or turbo system I wouldn't hesitate to do business with them. I have heard numerous stories of Kelly going WAY out of his way to make sure his customers are happy - sometimes perhaps even too far. However I feel this attention to their customers should easily outweigh the fact you didn't get the response you wanted to your email. Call, speak with Kelly if you can get him - but don't keep him on the phone too long - he has a lot of turbos to build. The fact you need information about the LATEST EFI setup speaks volumes about the fact that they haven't stopped doing R&D to make their products even better. You can read all about the last couple of generations of EFI in posts on this and other forums - but the latest info, well, you really have to go to the source.

Well it can be a little hard to get a hold of Kelly some times. He runs a one man shop and doesn’t have a lot of time to get things done and answer the phone. If you call leave a message and he will usually get back to you at the end of the day. To make things worse he had a little altercation with the pavement wile testing a Turbo nitrous snowmobile. So he is trying to get shop jobs out with a broke shoulder and foot. Kelly is a supper nice guy and would talk to you all day, but the guy has to get some work done. We all know how it is.

I just picked up my DS from Kelly and with the new upgrades I'm getting 72 HP with bolt on parts at 5lbs of boost running AvGas.
The EFI system is really dialed in from Kelly so there is no need to re-map or buy a computer, unless you just want to fiddle with it.
A lot of times, a person will start to change the EFI maps and cause themselves a lot of problems. If you want to fiddle with your EFI, you better know what your doing.
I am POSITIVE that Kelly knows what he is doing, as my DS works great!

If i wanted to order it tomorrow i would not hesitate to call, but with the high cost it will take some time to save up, thats why i email, easy for him to have time to respond when hes ready and easy for me to read it when i have time. If i called we'd just play phone tag. March i will prob be buying it so you can count on my phone calls then, i wouldnt waste his time so early.
Glad to hear your satisfied AZ, i cant wait to be done with jetting!
