Remove Skid Plates
#1
I am thinking of removing the skid plates on my 05X. I only ride in sand, and mainly in Florence Or. area. Anyone know of any problems this would cause? I don't know how much they weigh, but every pound counts.

If your riding in only sand. I think its a great idea. But, if your going to be riding in rocky areas or even where there maybe very hard debris, I would leave them on. I took mine off. Its just looks a whole lot cleaner and besides...its easier to change the oil and dont have to worry about cleaning up a mess if the oil is spilled on the skid plate. Just my 2 cents worth. Hope this helps.

Good point on the cleaning part, what a pain that sandy oily mess it gets. So if I see rocks in the sand I will be going around
Just out of curiosit, how heavy do you think they were?

The only skid that I wanted was the swing arm skid... I have an '02 standard with no skids besides the swinger, I ride only dunes and see problem with removing your skids. Way less mess as stated above.
