has anyone played with this and alky i have herd 1 quart to 10 gals of fuel herd there can be a 33% increase in power? i tried a search nothing came up to asnswer my Q. thanks

 

Well you know there are rumors of some guys running this "funny" fuel. But, Im not too sure any will devulge such info....you know thats all top secret info...LOL [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif[/img]

But yes. I have heard of tremendous gains but it will also make your motor go BOOM, if your not very careful. Everything has to be "JUST RIGHT" [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

You think you burn more fuel with Methanol vs. Gas. . . this is a whole different ball-game.

Better make sure you have enough of a carb to get all the fuel you need.

Me, I prefer gas or race gas (for high compression). Everything else is just a pain in the ****. You better be darn sure this is waht you want. I'ld rather spend $2k in engine mods than deal with this every weekend when I just want to ride.

Bad thing about this stuff is even if you get the jetting spot on. . . conditions change and you'll find your jetting off again. Plan on duning. . . think again, you'll be out of fuel in 30 minutes. . . with an IMS tank!

I put 2 much money in my motors to put nitro in them, I like dependable hp [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

2 1/2 % blend will only raise power 2 1/2% over pure alky.
Alky with a 15 to one piston is roughly 20% over gas.
Thus total would be around 22.5% over gas. With a 15 to one compression piston.
Carburetors and nitro do not work well. Fuel ratio has to be perfect.

I used to run Nitro from time to time. I had dual 39 FCR carbs on ALKY jetted really fat, but you can get away with being jetted way rich with alky. With my jetting I always had my best results with 1qt of nitro with 3 gallons of gas. thats about 10% mix. Anything more than that and it would lean the fuel out to much,and performance would start falling off.

I would gain about 4-5 lenghts in a drag with it. But at $30 a gallon I didnt use it often.

IMO you would need EFI or some other type of injection system to run a higher percentages. Carburators just cant keep up with the fuel demands.

What's wrong with about 30% nitro methane? It'll make your eyes burn so bad and you can't breathe sitting on the starting line- it really increases your reaction time because you can't wait to drop the clutch! Makes a real pretty solid flame too. My Fire breathing 350x and Mr HP 200x wouldn't know how to act without it!
Never tried it on my Ds though- I think way to much of it!

I know a couple of guys that run 98% nitro and 2% alky in their Harley drag bikes. They are running huge carbs and fuel lines that are as big as a garden hose. After each 400 ft run, they change the oil.

 

so say i try 1 quart of nitro to 5 gals of alky what % would that be
