Great. So now I have a lack of taste. Thanks ODP.
I guess expressing my concern for Canadian/American economy is a hush hush thing that should not be talked about. If you do you are labeled something your not.
As for quality or lack of... I guess we'll see.
I am just sick of rich people looking out for themselves and not the people who made them rich in the first place. They just want to be even more rich at their countrymens expense.
Ask one of the BRP workers how he or she feels about this move.
I guess I should crawl in a hole now.

you have to learn to work smarter not harder, send all the manual labor to contries where thats what they are good at and they will do it for cheap. I would rather get paid 80K a year to figure out what parts need to be put together than get paid 20K a year to put them together. In today market it's all about "Value Added" assets if you can't add value to a product or process then why pay you at all.

Its all about COOPORATE GREED in this country..Screw the workers at the bottom who were responsable for the success of your bussiness for YEARs.

We see this all the time with big companies.General Motors ect, put 1000s of hard working folks out of work and start up plants in foreign countries, where working conditions are poor, wages are below the poverty level, and qualitity control in almost non exsistant.

Then they want to send the FINISHED car back to the USA and try and sell it to the same worker that they just put out of a job,and at the SAME price it was built in America for.

It's ALL about cooporate greed and nothing else,I dont give a damn what any of you say.

"It's ALL about cooporate greed and nothing else,I dont give a damn what any of you say. "

Here is a good example of the attitude that stalls learning. I have been an employee for 10 years and now I own my own company. Good employees think in terms how to best make their boss and the company successful. Poor employees try to make themselves look good to their boss and the company. The first attitude is to serve, the second is selfishness. Poor employees always go around talking about how they are responsible for the success of the company and how the company couldn't survive without them. Poor employees often times make a habit out of referring to their boss as an idiot behind his/her back. Most people like this will never know what it is like to make a lot of money but the sadest thing of all is the fact that they usually hate their jobs to.

This runs BOTH ways my greedy friend.Good bosses also know what it takes to keep good employee's from running out the door because of greed.I've been on BOTH sides of this fence.

Muddy4life,

I spent 5 of the last 10 years in middle management as a Project Manager of a development company. Now I build 5 - 6 homes annually on my own in the same subdivision the development company I worked for put in. I worked hard, watched my boss and tried to think like him so I could accurately represent him and when my knowledge and experience allowed me to, I went out on my own while maintaining an excellent relationship with my old boss. As a developer, he knows me and trusts me and sends work my way. I in turn try to make him look good by treating the clients he sends my way with professionalism and respect.

I couldn't have this opportunity without a good boss and mentor. For that I am very thankful. You are right that it goes both ways. I have been very fortunate to have good good bosses throughout my career but part of that was that I put my trust in them. If I had a cynical attitude that expected my boss to screw me the minute I stopped looking out for me, I would have as many jobs in my career as I have had years and would still be at the bottom of someone else's ladder.

Call me greedy if it helps, judge my intentions how you will but the real point is that in this cynical, mistrusting world the ones that do well and are truly happy are the ones who stick their necks out and trust others to greatly determine their reward. If a boss does you wrong, go find a good one to put your trust in. Time will tell if BRP is making a mistake by moving their production down to Mexico. The only thing we know for sure, right now is who is looking into the future with a sense of hope for the best and who is looking into the future with cynicism and expecting the worst.

Feel free to PM me if yo wish to debate this further.

Why debate it in private? I started this thread to discuss it and learn from it.

Look, I am very happy that a guy can go out on his own and start his or her own business. It takes a special person to make success out of it.
I love my boss. Not in a g ay prison kind of way, but with the utmost repect and admiration for. Without someone like him, SOMEONE LIKE ME WOULD BE OUT OF WORK. Does that make me a der-der-duh?? Well, maybe. I don't think so. I am a good hard working person who is okay not being the owner or the boss. My customers are also thankful of my work ethic.
Our company would not be where it is without the dedicated employees that feel the same way I do. My boss is very appreciative of this and knows it is hard to find good HELP these days because everyone wants to be an owner or boss and doesn't want to work. They all seem to want to start at the top. Or at least get paid it right away.
I have noticed in the construction trades, which except for the last 15 years is all I have ever done, most owners are hiring illegal immigrants. They do the work for less money. The work is borderline scab work most of the time from what I see here in South Florida. The owners are lining their pockets. Totally different issue.
This corporate thing is just on a broader scale.
When it comes to making money; if being smarter means screwing your fellow countrymen, it shows how cut throat we are being raised.
I didn't start this thread to make it a " me against you" thing, but what kind of person am I DSnut?

all have good points,

I for one believe the hard working people in Mexico will posses the same pride in thier work as the hard working Canadians do(or Americans). But I'm a "glass half full" type of guy. 300 people loosing thier jobs does truley suck, but they will have them jobs for atleast another year and lots of things can happen in this industry in that amount of time. Atleast BRP gave their workers a real-life oppurtunity to find a great job else where before they loose their factory jobs at BRP. Thats a whole lot better than GM did in OKC, 3000 people without work, Just closed and locked the doors for good. But the people in OKC rallied around the workers that got layed-off and 99% of them will have good-jobs agian Makes me proud to be an OKlahoman, and an American!!!

BIgger.

Mudnuri,

I agree with the points you made in your last post. I do believe that lining pockets by breaking the law (illegal immigrants) would be not only an ethical problem but a prerequisite to an economic one.

I suggested the PM because I didn't want to hijack your thread. Thank you for letting this go on. I, to, believe it is important to our way of life.

I am going to trust that you are not setting a trap for me by asking me what kind of person you are. I assume you really want to know what I think so here goes.

I have no idea. Maybe with more interaction I might come up with something, but until then I will default to the positive and assume you are a person who looks to the future with hope and a lack of cynicism until you prove me otherwise...... which I doubt you will do.

It is about time GM made a move to get control of the union. The economy is driven by profitability NOT over-inflated wages that cost far more than they produce. The first thing the union leaders said after the layoff was, "Oops!"

Back to the point: I will continue to follow BRP regardless of where they setup their factories and regardless of who they hire as long as they keep making the best quads for the money!

Later
Unions have fought for WORKERS rights for over 100 years! Not only for their rights but for work place safety, job conditions, health & welfare, retirement, new hires, decent wages. Sad time for us all when the CEO's think about their pockets and the share holders BEFORE the employees that are working for them and HAVE made the products, made the profits to fatten the CEO'S / SHAREHOLDERS profits and their RETIREMENT/ PARACHUTE. Now they want to send more & more companies south to FURTHER FATTEN their pockets. GIVE ME & ALL THE AMERICAN WORKERS A BREAK.
