UTU,

If you went to Mexico or Korea or China and tried to make a union, you would be quietly hauled away and snuffed out by either the government or the people who make the money off the peasants and give the government their cut. Either way, no one would defend you over there. Why don't you spend a little more time thanking America for the right to have your beloved union and the right to express your dissention on an internet forum instead of sitting around pi$$ed off about how evil American (and apparently now French/Canadian) corporations, ceo's and shareholders are. The same America that gives you the right to have your union reserves you the right to be mistaken and still keep your head.

QUOTE**the american public is tired of spending too much money for stuff that was created by high dollar labor, so the american public in general is pushing jobs to mexico, as well as any other place that has lower labor costs. companies are only moving to mexico because we the people are begging them to do it. and we are begging them by exersizing the practice of going for the cheaper items as often as possibleEND of Quote***

Thats the biggest BS I've read in a long time.Move the plants to Mexico so they can be built for less and that will mean the American folks will pay less money for the product?--BULL -HIT!

Thats exactly what they TRIED to get us to beleive when the Auto makers went to Mexico, and even today with far LESS costs to build vehicles in Mexico, the automakers send the finished vehicle BACK to the USA and we [the AMERICAN buyers] see the cost of the vehicle as being the same as if it were built right here in AMERICA.

Its called COOPERATE GREED my friend------

Muddy4life,

I know you are just trying to stir the pot but until you only buy things made in this country with parts and ingredients from this country by people only from this country, you are as big a participant in this so called "corporate greed" as anyone else. It is like an animal rights activist wearing a leather jacket or an environmentalist that flys on airplanes. They don't hold much water until they put their money where their mouth is. (enough cliche's?)

You guys love to throw this "greed" word around with no accountability to its definition. You think profits are greed, you think if someone is wealthy, they must have been greedy to get that way and they are definately greedy for not wanting the government to take more of it and give some to someone else. Under this premis, you can cry "greed" any time someone doesn't give you exactly what you want! It might take you having to live in a country where capitolism isn't the basis for the economy, for you to finally see how good you have it. If you stopped thinking like a victim for one minute, you would have worlds of opportunity open up to you almost immediatly.

DsNut-------Thats the problem alright. Not the Unions, but the companies taking the jobs away from the workers and TAKING advantage of the CHEAP labor and making it harder for them to better their lives. Talking about child labor ever heard of it? NAFTA => BIG MISTAKE do you see any of our products selling overseas/Mexico like you do in AMERICA? Me,YOU,all of us are/should be thankful alright for living in AMERICA with the unions, jobs, way of life, in a democratic state, right to vote(IF YOU VOTE)

PSS: I do thank AMERICA & GOD for living.breathing, working, for our troops fighting to keep AMERICA SAFE AND PROTECTING YOUR,MINE,ALL AMERICANS RIGHTS,ETC,ETC,ETC in AMERICA!

UTU,

I appreciate your ferver, I know you are trying to accuse me of being anti-union, but accusations are best saved for those who are trying to hide what they think. I do believe that unions have outlived their usefulness and are a hinderance to economic progess. They did their work well in the '30's when they were necessary, now with the labor laws as they are on the books enforced, there is no need for this middle man bureaucracy. The union costs you money in dues and they cost me money for inflated goods and services and mostly what they do with their money is fight for higher union wages, and fund political candidates that will help them keep their power. Candidates that are having increasing trouble winning elections by standing for union interests, I might add because union members make up a pretty small percentage of the GDP and they are about the only ones who think unions are worth it.

I am thankful though that they did what they did back in the early part of the 20th century but now they are not only obsolete but an expensive drain on the economy.

Am I to assume you are Pro-Union based on your past posts? I'm only asking because you seemed a little vague on that point.

Cheers!

I don't have problem with Unions and what the Union Stands for(workers wages, and rights) I think its cool, and nessessary to have the workers vioce heard!! but starting in the 80's the the lawyers got involved and now the Unions are Corperations themselves. Everyday I interact with both Union and Non-union companies, and in my line of work , I really need a company that will help me out and go the extra mile. But I ALWAYS know I will not meet my dead-line if I am dealing with a company that has a Union work-force.
The people for the most part are great, but when its closing time, or days off, or holidays NOTHING and I mean NOTHING gets done till they get good and ready. Alot of the times its not the individual workers fault, but the union will not let them work over-time, Unless its pre-approved and in the end I suffer for it. Thier are SO MANY layers in a union work-force that it takes litterally days for one piece of paper to travel to the right folks, and they are in the SAME biulding!!! This is SO frustrating, But I deal with it everyday.

The unions I speak of are in communications business , I dont know if Unions in other lines of work are structured the same way.

DSNUT,
contrary to your beliefs,I am not part of the problem..I,much like others, must SURVIVE,and in order to survive in todays society,it often means that you MUST buy products not made in your own country. For this,I am NOT a willing participant but rather a purchaser by common sense.

You also misinterpet MY meaning of greed.By your own admission, you think that I feel if a person is wealthy, they got they way by being greedy.I did not make that comment, you did..

One huge perception of greed is when the 'BIG WIGS' ask employee's to take pay cuts in their hourly wages and benefits because their bussiness is showing a decline in the profit department, and in the same sentence, they give HUGE bonuses to management and supervision of the same bussiness. Then years after employee concessions were made and the bussiness is back pulling stable profits, the same company thanks their employee's by MOVING their bussiness to another country.

You call it what you want------I'll call it COOPERATE GREED.
