I'm not familiar with the Prarie 360 but the Outlander 400 is one of the tops in it's class and can hold it's own against many 500 class utiliity ATV's. Wait for the 650 IMO.

Should I waite for the 650 then. I am afraid I will outgrow the 400 too quick and I think the 800 may be a little too much power for me. The 650 will come out in a few months?

Catrider...
How is the fuel economy on your 800? I mean how many miles per tank? I ride with a gent who has a Polaris 800 EFI and he is constantly having to shorten our rides because he is afraid he'll run out of fuel. It's a gas hog. He doesn't like the ribbing he has to endure when I top him off. I have an AC 650V2 and the tank is 6.5 gallons (US). That extra gallon makes a nice difference, but it boils down to fuel efficiency. My 650 gets better fuel economy than my AC500 Auto. I'm considering selling the 500 and getting an 800 Bomb Max, but I've not heard anyone talk about fuel use. I'd like to do more 125-175 mile over-nighters. What is your take on it?

I have a Bombardier Outlander XT Max 400 HO.

I have been told that the 800 fuel mileage is comparable to the 400 because BRP put a 5.3 gall tank in the 800. I can go about 100 miles, give or take, depending on the type of riding and how oftem I use full throttle. I expect the 800 to do about the same. I hope an 800 owner will chime in.

I plan on selling my 400 to get an 800, not because of the way it performs on the trails, the 400 is great on trails, but because the 400 doesn't go fast enough to ride on the freeway. (In Az you can make your ATV street legal) There are some rides I plan with a jeep group (who will carry gas for me) that has a strecth of interstate in the loop. My 400 only goes about 55mph and the 800 will go 70+mph.

If I decide I can't take the hit selling my V and only buy 1 it will be 90+% for the wife as she does not like my V at all she does not like the way the power hits and she prefers 4x4 and a softer suspension. We do ride some pretty steep stuff with a lot of rocks and some water crossing (usually not real deep). We deal with more deep snow than we do deep mud. I will have winch on it mostley to pull out the V if I stick it or to get the V up things that require the 4x4. If we get two then it changes because one is completely for me and the other is then totally her's. We very seldom have really needed the low range I don't use it for work they are basically for play only. Might get used to drag an elk or a deer out and sometime to pull downed logs back to camp for fire wood. I have a chain saw so again I can cut the wodd small enough that the low range is not totally needed. We do ride with two people 1 adult and 1 child a good percentage of the time, how every many of the trails get tight enough that I am not sure about a machine designed for 2, worried about the extra length. Haven't seen many of them on the trails around here yet. We also play at the dunes some so what ever we get will play in the sand a little too. I have thought about the 650 Outy but from the description it will be same as the 800 only 10% less power. No sure how that would work for wife need to have her see if the Outys feel big to her if she liked the size and handling then the 650 might be a real option. I have rode a Sportsman 700 EFI and I did not care for it felt too utility for my taste. My wife rode a friends 500 Sportsman HO and she said it felt bigger than the P700 and she prefered the Suzuki 500 Quadmaster we had over the Sportsman. I ride much harder and more aggressive than she does. We might consider the KQ700 too just depends how the size and handling feels to her. I have heard that the steering can get squirilly on the KQ especially going down hills in the ruff stuff.

They are basically all pretty good machines it's all a matter of personal choice. You'll get a million different opinions depending on the forum you ask.....Your #1 concern should be getting in and out without mechanical problems...........so stay away from Polaris )

Are you on drugs, That's original. I had to many problems out of Honda's that's why i don't like them and Honda is not a American or Canada owned company. Have rode 450 Kodiak with ebs on the front wheels when it was in four wheel drive and did not like it. I feel more in control with my sportsman, Oh yes went down steep hills. I test rode the bomb and liked the power but that's all i liked, only got to ride on flat ground. If your going to get rincon or outie go with the outy!! less problems than the cheap made Honda. Test ride them before you buy. I must be honest i did have problems with my 03 predator that's why i have a ds650X now. Had to change CV boot out on my 05 sportsman 500 but that was my fault . Have a nice day.
