Default Chain and sprockets

Saturday I raced in a FTR hare scramble. I was having clutch slippage prior to the race and thought I'd just go for points. I ordered a Barnett, 9disk clutch for my stock engine, but it won't be here until tomorrow. $170. Is that a lot for the clutch?
Anyway, I changed the oil before the race and adjusted the clutch cable ALL the way. During the practice lap I noticed it was not slipping like before but I didn't really get on it so as to save it for the race.
So the starting horn sounds for the race and we are at a dead engine start. My DS starts the first time everytime. This time it wasn't starting and I looked down and my thumb had spun the start assembly around! I could not do that under normal circumstances. Talk about pumped up! I twisted it back around with both hands and hit the button of life and took off. This all happened in seconds. I was like 7th out of 13 in our class. My clutch was hooking up great and I was able to pass all the way up to 3rd going into the 4th lap.
About a mile into the 4th lap the teeth on my front sprocket wore down so that the chain slipped! Scared the hell out of me. I limped all the was around to only be passed into 8th place.
So I called the dealer today and I can get sprockets and chain for $400 I almost passed out.
Any alternatives?

They are that expensive because they aren't coming from Mexico yet.

I pay about $35 for a front Sprocket, $65 for a rear and about $90 for a new o-ring chain. I think you can get a Sidewinder Ti-Moly 520 conversion for about $350. That has both sprockets and a 16,000 lb tensil chain that weighs about half of OEM. $400 sounds really high to me.

OEM bomb stuff is a total rip off. Dont spend that much cash on heavy oem steel stuff. If you want to keep the reliability than look for slightly used stock parts (sidwinder makes steel stuff too I beleive).

If you want to go the cheap route, you can look at www.rockymountainatv.com they have
RKY MTN << which is stock size steel for 17, and the front is 13 for a 14/15/16 tooth.

RK makes a 530 x-ring chain for 65 bucks. This should be the same size as the stocker (looked up the ds to see the parts available) rk chain

I also went the rmatv route and have no complaints.Just make sure and dry the chain
and lube it after you clean it,or you will get surface rust quickly.

Oh yea its been on since last spring.

Deff don't buy new stock stuff. Buy good used sprockets or go to sprocket specialties or other places. There is a great deal on ebay right now for steel front and rear sprockets coming from portugal for around $40.00 to your door. I bought my 15t front from there great quality actually. $400.00 they must be crazy or on drugs!
