Ds Overheat under extreme conditions....Normal??
OK, time for some serious maintenence, and a littile down time.
1). check fliud levels, and make sure they are at proper levels, if yes.
2). drain the OIL and Antifreeze
3). clean OIL screen in OIL tank(do a search on OIL TANL SCREEN)
4). Remove radiator from the frame, inspect, CLEAN and re- install
5). refill oil with new oil filter
6). refill antifreeze using water wetter(again do a search to help you)
7). Buy some Radiator shrouds from CT (around $40)
go riding!!

Taking the radiator out is a pain. Once you get it out you can clean it with a spray on foam cleaner used for cleaning Air Conditioning coils. MAKE SURE IT IS SAFE FOR ALUMINUM! There are two kinds. I got mine at a hardware store. Lay the radiator flat and cover with foam cleaner. Keep the hose handy and rinse it clean and repeat a few times. Make sure to rinse that stuff off real good. A temperature gauge and oil pressure gauge will take all the guessing out of it.
Mud gets stuck in the radiator behind the fan where you can't clean with regular wash. One or maore coils blocked with mud leads to improper cooling.

Y'know, when they start making these things down in Mexico they will be made for these high temperature conditions. Right now they are set up for the sub-zero temperatures of Quebec. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Sounds like the radiator cleaning will do it! Good luck!

ds1- It looks like you might have some tight trails there in PR maybe the radiator isnt getting much air. You can un hook the 2 wires going from fan to thermostat and run a wire between the outlets to see if the fan works. Also you can hook up a toggle switch so you can run the fan at all times when trailing in slower areas. Just soak the radiator and loosen up the mud, Then pressure wash (from a distance) and get all the mud out. I also take my thermostat out and cut out the middle brass peice and re install gutted thermostat. Make sure you bleed/burp the system good if you do this. I have been running the modded thermostat for years with great results. The bike seems to run much cooler especially when you can toggle the fan on when runnin lower mph for long durations. this works great for drag racing also. I turn the fan on when my temp gets to about 160-165dg. JMO
I just re-read and noticed you already run the toggle?

The red warning light comes on for one of two reasons:
1) Coolant temperature getting high
2) Oil pressure getting low (pressure will drop as oil temperature rises and as oil degrades)
If it were me I'd want to know which of the 2 conditions is occuring!
