You definitely need to come out to glamis for the 15th, more then welcome to caravan out with us.
As far as paddles, it sounds like you are just starting out on a quad and not all into racing yet. I would recommend a set of ITP Sand Stars in the 22" size mounted on red label wheels.

Where is the best place to get the tires and wheels? Would I need both front and rear or just rear paddles with the stock front?

You can get away with just the rears for now. If you go with 22" rear tires (I recomend) I would also buy a 15 tooth front sprocket for gearing. Once you try that out you can always buy front tires later.

I did some real life testing on a few different tire set ups, and sprocket combinations. I will search for it and see if I can find what it was called. It is at least some additional information for you.
As far as the best place for those tires, I would go with Toppers recommendation as I am sure he spent no less then an entire work week searching on that

Topper and I both run the 22" Sand Stars. They are IMO the best all around rear sand tire you can get for the DS. I had 20" edges and later had 22" haulers. I can say from experience with all 3 of these that the Sand Stars are so far the best hookup I have had. I used to drag race the hills with each set. Well this last time out with the sand stars for the first time I smoked my clutch all the way through 3rd gear all the way up before it finally let me know with a big RPM drop. Now dont take that as a bad thing, I have a few mods done to my DS and I havent been nice to my clutch or any clutch in anything I have owned. Besides, its only 150 bucks for a Barnett 9 disc (someday you too will get one). So either the sand stars are hooking up that much harder or my clutch is just getting that worn out.
For all around riding you can expect effortless wheelies in 2nd in the sand with them.
Get that 15t front sprocket to get your gearing back. The 22" will grow your shift points and will slow you down if you dont get one.
I have the AMS 23" fronts, they are the only 23" front sand tires out there. I belive in the tallest fronts you can run so you have the suspension back to the right stance.....this is important for riding downhills.
Dont think that a 21" or 22" is close enough, I can take a picture of a 22" next to my 23" and you wont believe it!
