I had been riding a KFX 700 for the past couple of years and was happy with it, but I always felt like I was missing something. I was in the market for a second quad for the wife and was considering adding another KFX to the fleet, I went down to the local dealer and they had one of those odd looking DS650X’s sitting on the show room floor, I must say it really caught my attention. So I went home and jumped on the ATV connection forums and started looking through the posts for any info positive or negative on the DS, long story short I went down to the dealer the next day and went for a test ride, I was very impressed, I am now happy to say I am the proud owner of a new 05 DS650X. I now know what I had been missing with the KFX, the five speed manual trans and the plush ride of the DS are awesome. I’ve heard all the arguments about the CVT on the KFX always having you at the right rpm and not having the tedious task of shifting, I know I was one of those who argued that way, but it is great to be able to pick what rpm I want to run at, not the machine, and be able to come out of a hair pin turn, down shift and blast away. Don’t get me wrong, the KFX 700 is a great machine and I still enjoy an occasional ride on it, but it just doesn’t put as big a smile on my face as the DS. Thanks for all the great info and for helping me make a very informed decision. I am looking forward to picking your brains in the future as I slowly but surely start waking up the full potential of this machine. Thanks again
