Got a quote today from Sidewinder sprockets.com for the 520 pitch conversion kit for the DS 650. It claims it will improve rev build up by 18 percent and deliver 4.5 more horse power to the rear wheels. I cant believe they want $350.00 for two sprockets and a chain. I wonder if there is any cheaper but good route to take maybe using different manufactured parts.

Woods has a kit out now that uses a rear aluminun sprocket and steel front, with a nice o ring chain for around $160? I think. I have the same thing on my bike now. Its not quite as good as the sidewinder kit but a heck of alot cheaper..

Better make damn sure your gearing is dialed in at $350. How many $60 aluminum rear sprockets will you go through for every ti-moly? If it is more than 4, the sidewinder is a better deal. If not, well.......

4.5 hp is absolute bullsh!t, the weight diference is nowhere near what people think it is, a 520 chain has the same pitch length as a 530, the 530 is merely wider by 1/16" inch. I shed 7 pounds off my rear mass by turning wheel hubs, getting an alum sprocket hub to replace my old model steel one, and putting on a $50 alum sprocket from sprocket specialists, and I didn't gain 4.5 hp from ALL of that!!! that advertisement is totally laughable man.
I have the sidewinder 530 so called ti-moly chain, it cost $180 from them, and like mentioned the 520 is cheaper. a $50 alum sprocket and $12 fronts is all I use. i burn up two $12 fronts a year, but the $50 aum rear lasts two seasons. IMO you will not get your money's worth paying $200 for a pair of sprockets.
