Default Need more top end power !!!

I just put 22" Razer 2's on my DS. I also went with a 15 tooth front sprocket. The problem is in 4th & 5th gears. When i race my buddies Raptor (equal mods) i am right with him 2nd and 3rd, but as soon as i shift to 4th he starts pulling on me. I probably weigh about 75lbs more than him. Its the same story against my friend pred. also. I need to know what mod to do next that will help with a little more top end power. I do about 75% trails and 25% drag racing. I feel i am not doing the mighty DS justice. I would like to keep the gearing were it is. Any suggestions (besides going on a diet) would be appreciated.

You have a pipe that performs well. Big Gun has good top end. Are you sure your jetting is spot on? running rich or lean on the top is likely to show up more in the higher gears because you are spending more time revving through the power band. The lower gears tend to hide flat spots because you still rev through them fairly quickly.

Sounds like you are fighting a power to weight issue just like all the rest of us. If you are holding your own with just bolt-ons and a stock carb through 3rd gear on a setup that is 150 lbs heavier than theirs (you 75lbs + bike 75lbs), I would be pretty proud of that.

really? that's an interesting theory: pull off a Big Gun and replace it with an endcap to get MORE top end power.....I hope this guy don't hold a grudge against people who waste his money....

22, ya i would. are you saying that a big gun slip on is better than a woods full pipe?? WOW!! because the end cap beat the woods pipe all the way to the very end and lost 1 HP at the very top!!! dont give me that crap just because your upset.
