Splitting the case
I ordered the parts on a Friday and they were going to be here the next Wednesday which would have been two Wednesdays ago, but, I called up until the Friday before the race last weekend. No parts. "We'll call you."
On Tuesday, I called again and said "WTF!?"
After rooting around he found he got the order ready but never actually ordered.
So, I waited until today, patiently, and went in to get the parts. (because they called to tell me they were in)
I get the forks and no gaskets!! I was totally deflated. I didn't want to get mad and blow a gasket myself. They are selling me the stuff at cost and loaning me the tools, but damn! I really had to keep my cool. I was really pissed.
So now I have nothing to do but twiddle my thumbs this weekend, when it comes to this project. Not to mention I will be that much closer to forgetting what the hell I am doing!!
I try to remember the serenity prayer. I think it goes... God give me the strength to not shoot the guy behind the counter at my dealer!

I went ahaed and installed the new forks. Not before comparing with the old ones. I can definitly see where there is where. The ends of the forks have little heels on them. Those are a bit worn. Also the very ends are worn. The single fork seemed to be worn the most. Especially on the very ends. Seems like such little wear.
They are in non- the less. I shifted through a few times back and forth, so it works.

Now I will have to wait until Tuesday night to keep going.

Splitting the case
I'm laughing my **** off reading this post. Not at you mud, but with you, feeling every bit of your fears. The first time I tore my Raptor apart it was a scary thing and it was about 2 months before it was able to be put together. Thankfully there is a website out there that walks us Rappy owners through this. That, I believe is where my brother got the inclination to put his rebuild site up for the bomb guys that are not rich and need and or want to do these things themselves. He did a good job on it. Be patient as your bretheren have advised and read and re read the steps on the website to get it all back together again. There will be a great satisfaction when you start it up for the first time when you are done. You'll have a huge

Hey mud,
It is VERY important that you get all the oil out of the bolt holes before you put it all back together. When you go to torque the bolts they will hydraulic lock and give you a false torque reading and the bolts wont tighten up correctly. Man it is vital to get all the oil out, hate to see something small cost you so much later and believe me it will. I just spent 1500 bux on a second rebuild and the first one only had 1 ride in it.

Well I had to replace the cylinder and piston. The shop that did it didnt do anything right and ruined my entire engine. So after only 2 rides and 2 head gaskets after the alleged rebuild I took it to a dealer. They found that the reason for the blown gaskets was that the head bolt holes had oil in them and when they torqued the head it would hydraulic and not tighten down correctly.(I was there when he tore it down so i saw the oil there) so it costs me 1500 bux to completly rebuild the engine, I had to replace everything except the crank, But now she is like new.

Splitting the case
Well, it's just after 1am, Thursday morning. I got the gaskets finally today, well yesterday, a nd I've been working on it ever since. Ordered a pizza. My brother came over and helped me out a lot. Probably couldn't have torqued 133 ft lbs by myself! His friend loaned us a new snap-on T-wrench. So everything is to spec. New gaskets all the way around. I siliconed around the stator wires coming out, too.
The dealer said the rubber o-ring for the starter is not an item for sale. It come swith the staters. So he gave me this huge box to take home and get the right one. So I did.
My Momma came over to see how I was tonight and took one look in my house and turned right around and left. Said it smelled like a garage. "And what are all these coffee cups doin' around?" LOL!
Well there are no more coffe cups all over. Everything went back together perfectly. I had no trouble. I had the cams cleaned. The guy said they really didn't need anything but wiped down real good! They look good.
Now I will start the installation tomorrow after work.
