Hey guys, give me your opinion on this conversion. I am seriously thinking about trying to win it. To me it looks great but I want to hear what you experts have to say first I sent him a message saying it looked nice but wanted to know why he's selling if and to clarify that the motor does run in the bike and this is what I got back.

"yeah, it is sweet for sure. I am selling it because the original builder took all my money, and never gave me what is left to make it 100%, so I do not want to spend twice, so I am getting rid of it to sue him. Dont get me wrong, the work he did is beyond first rate, but he was a bad businessman. Anyway, I have over 10 grand in it as you see it , and yes, EVERYTHING is working, and the motor only has 309 miles on it. "

Here's the Link <Link edited by ATV Connection Moderator>

I don't know how to setup the hyperlink sry.

So let me know what you guys think,
Phil

As far as I could see, everything seemed to be fine (but don't buy it on my account).
Did you email him through ebay (not directly to him)?
I would ask him to provide a LIST of everything that was done, and how much each item on the list cost (totalling the $11,200 investment). Then I would want proof of the costs by seeing the receipts for those expendatures.

Trust, but verify.

It looks like what is done, is done well, but it's alot further from being done than it might seam. Details like the fuel tank might be somewhat complicated on a complete custom chassis like that. What type of suspension is the frame built for? Do the a-arms have to be custom made also, or will it accept arms from something else? Is the transmission output in the correct place for suspension travel? Basicly, you have a frame and a motor there, everything else is up to you. He might have been better off spending his time and money on the mechanicals of the project, instead of the fancy stickers.

I would think about buying it if I could steal it for $3000 or so, but much more than that and you will have the most expencive 600CC quad ever built by the time your done. You'll be money far ahead by putting a motor like that into an existing quad. All those remaining parts will add up.

BTW- Does the motor start and run as it sits now?

IdahoVinnie I did ask him questions threw ebay.

Knutz I asked him if it ran and this what he responded with....EVERYTHING is working, and the motor only has 309 miles on it. "

tell him you have a friend that lives close to him and he wants to come by and see it run. that will give you a pretty good idea. if he starts well i wont be home or i dont like people coming over. you get the idea.

2Big is Exactly right! I also always ask if I have the option of paying cash in person at pick-up. There isn't a scam out there that can answer that question.

2big2bfast and Dsnut thats a great idea i'm gonna ask him that. I already have a limit i'm going to spend considering all the work that needs to be done and i think the bidding will go over it. But we'll see and thanks for the advice guys!

I happen to know him very well, and he is 100%legit. His name is Gary and he is in our ATV club. ( Illinois ATV Trailmasters). The builder went out of business on him, and now he cannot finish the bike. Hes also building another quad with a twin 1000 in it. I know the builder going out on him was a huge disapointment, we have been riding/racing together for several years now. His description is 100% true, that is not a hacked up 400, that was a complete ground up build. The builder had this build on the front page of his website for quite some time.

If anyone has any trouble getting in touch with him, let me know, I can hook you up.

Gary

This is the first one i have seen where someone from the forum will back them nice job
