Default Almost got it done need HELP. Question about axle install?

Hey guys. I have a 2004 DS 650 Baja X. I removed the old axle and bearings. I am now installing a new Durablue axle and need some advice. I know someone out there has done the replacement. I installed new races, bearings and seals. I now am having a problem getting the sprocket hub off. I removed the snap ring but it wont come off. I dont want to bang on it with a hammer and bend it.
Do you guys know if this is pressed on? Do I have to have it pressed off and the new one pressed back on?
Also on the new Durablue axle does the posilock nut go on the left side of the carrier or on the right side (sprocket side). Thanks, Derek

Your going to have to have the sprocket hub pressed off. It is pressed on. Or find a long piece of tubing the fits over the axle and smack it the tube with a hammer . I have done it that way before. And both the nuts will go on the one side. The side the brake rotor is on. It just locks the axle nut and keeps it from backing off.

Ok here is what I dont understand.

On my stock axle there is a big nut on the brake side. First you have to remove a metal clip that goes over and locks the nut in palce.Once the clip is off you can loosen the nut that threads on the axle. The key here is that there are threads actually cut into the stock axle on the left side.

The dura blue axle that I ordered from Rocky mountain does not have any threads on it to use the old nut. All it has is a snap ring and a thing called a posi lock. Did I get the wrong axle from them. They said it was for an 04 Baja X. ?????????????

Thanks, Derek

Isnt there threads on the dura blue that the posi lock screws onto and then tightens down? I have used those posi locks before but not on a ds axle. Im sure it is the same setup?

Well I just looked at the invoice that Rocky mountan sent me. It says Durablue axle for a 2004 DS650 Baja X Stock number DB201166P. Then I went to their site which says the stock number for my 04 is DB201165P. They screwed up. I will have to call them tomorrow to get the right one.
You know whats funny about three weeks ago I wrote Rocky mountain a letter about them charging shipping on items over $100.00. I told them that all the other companies out there right now offer free shipping if the order is over $100.00 dollars. When I ordered my axle on 2/22/06 they charged me $18.09 for shipping. I now see on there site they changed their policy. Its now free shipping on any order over $99.00. I wonder if it was my letter that made they change their policy ?
