Default OK, what IS the correct transmission oil for the 800?

I can't be the only one trying figure this out. The operator's guide (page 108) calls for "XP-S synthetic chaincase oil" P/N 413 803 300 or and equivalent. I tried to buy this at the dealer last week and they didn't have it.
Now the BRP online parts catalog (http://www.bombardier-atv.com/en-US/Parts.htm) says to use 5W-40 engine oil P/N 293600039.

OK, BRP, which is it???

On the very few break-in services i've done on the 800s I have used what the service manual calls for, the chaincase oil you have mentioned. And why doesn't your dealer stock this? If they are not a ski-doo snowmobile dealer they may not. I don't know of any equivelants at this time. I can't imagine motor oil would do any damage but I would like to know for sure before I tried it.

Well, we're in FL, so snowmobile sales are a little slow.

From what I've seen so far not many people are changing all the fluids at break-in, just the engine. I'm sorta fussy, so I do them all. One dealer I went to did not even have the engine oil filters in stock! Sales guy tells me they sell "lots" of Outlander 800's. Yeah, right. Glad I didn't buy the machine there.

Sad to say many dealer staff don't know or bother with correct fluids. Went to a the Jeep dealer a while back and asked for a quart of PS fluid; they handed me ATF. I gave it back and told him the manual says "do not" use ATF- use PS fluid only. He tells me the "ATF is what our techs always use". (Note to self- don't go back there).

Well that would explain why they don't carry chaincase oil.

You Need P/N 413 803 300 and yes your ATV Dealer should Stock the XPS Synthetic Chaincase oil. The new 650 will require it. It is not the 5w-40 synthetic that is strictly the engine oil. Happy Riding.

Default Can-Am P/N 413-803-300 (XP-S Chaincase oil) Equivalent

Folks, I have been trying for days to confirm what the equivalent oil is for my 2007 Can-Am Outlander 800 XT's gearbox is. I was recently in Moab and was just checking levels and the gearbox was low and no one seems to know what the cross reference oil is. I even called BRP at 715-848-4957 and asked to talk to a tech person and she said she had no access to them, that I needed to call my local dealer. Well, that was on a Monday and dealers are closed. I found this ad tonight and wondering if anyone can confirm this is the accurate cross reference "80w-140 GL-5" synethic?
