You'll be alright, I have the same pipe and when they start checking I usually take a break or just wait till they pull someone off to the side then sneak right in. I have been probably 10 times in the past two years and have never been checked. Don't let that stop ya from going.
If they do catch ya without the quiet core, will they give ya chance to put it on or will they just boot ya out? I just ordered mine but I may take a chance with leaving it out until I would get caught if they would let me put it in before booting me.
Hey another ? what about the 2 strokes, do they have to have sparky's in there pipes, because one of my buddies will have his banshee there and he does'nt think he can even get sparky's for the pipes that he has??????? A solid answere would be greatfull. Thanks, RUSS
Honestly I don't know, I have never even put in my quiet core. I just assumed that if they caught me I could say... "oh yeh, I forgot the quiet core, be right back". Don't have any answer for you about the shee, maybe ask on bansheehq.com or www.silverlakesandduners.com.

Your on the right track with your thinking.
LEAVE the cores out.
If they check you and your found to be too loud they will do 1 of 2 things.
Usually if your only 2-3 dbs abouve the limit, they will tag your bike saying youve been checked and then they will let you in. Ive been checked as high as 101 and the kids they hire tagged me at 98 and let me in.

If they dont let you in you can just go back to the parking lot and put your cores in.

I know somebody makes an approved sparky that just clamps onto the end just about any 2 stroke pipe. I see em everywhere in the dunes.
Also what many people do is to load their bike into the back of their truck and drive into the dunes. MOST bikes on the back of a truck dont get checked.

Those clamp on spark arrestors are called Sparkys.

I don't think you can take trailers onto the dunes anymore though, so if you trailer you'll have to drive through the check point.

It would blow to have to use the quiet core, #1 I'd have to rejet, #2 less power! I need some type of "blockage" I can put behind the spark arrestor unseen & then pop out once in!!! HMMM, a new product...

Hey bomb, read hightowers reply to that same question from me, it's around here somewhere lol. Anyways don't stress it, just show up and all will be fine, and by the way, the guy told me that there is someone there all the time so don't worry about what time you get there, because I am not sure what time I will arrive.

I made a day trip to Silver Lake yesterday, I hope there is a big wind storm between now and then, the sand was rough, I talked to a guy that was there all week, said it was rough all week, I think it is still tore up from the 4th. On the bright side the water was nice. Oh well I still can't wait to go anyway.

you don't have to have voucher to get in, you just wait in line longer without it. if you show up saturday morning with no voucher you will just be waiting in line to get your stickers and stuff at the gate. then saturday night you can get your voucher for sunday morning and get right in without waiting behind others who have no vouchers.

sparky screens, show up with them installed cause its most likely they will be checking for that. as far as quiet inserts, just have them with you and if you fail a possible dB check you can stick it in. just say it used to pass, must need repacked or something....
sparky screens cost little power hardly recognizable, and the jetting difference is negligable as long as its clean and no packing built up on it. quiet cores vary depending on brand, but the ones I've seen dyno compares of only cost 1-2 HP peek and no rejetting required, so don't let them worry you either too much.

Only 2 weeks away folks!!

I made another attempt to sell my quad, but to no avail. So, I will definately be heading up that weekend. Also, for those who dont know, the WMSD is having a National race that weekend. Im not sure how the new owners are puting it together, but this is the best racing I have ever seen including Top Fuel Dragsters running 300 foot. Two years ago, quadbart and I did the test and tune for it, but decided to sit out the actual race due to gearing and tire issues. I think I had alot more fun in the stands anyway.

So, Steve and I are looking forward to meeting everyone, hopefully there will be a turnout. Im looking forward to racing Scooby again. I raced him on the 4th, but my clutch was slipping. (lack of maintanence on my part) Then when I got that taken care of, his quad developed a problem. We, for the most part missed eachother the entire weekend. That was the first time my family came with me, so time was spent with them. I will say Scooby's bike launches very hard and is very very fast, so Im hoping to make a real race of it this time around.

2 weeks boys, bring the camera's. We will widen the drag strip a bit for the pigs!!

Gary
