ds650 oil system
Hello,
I recently purchased a new ds650. I am in the process of doing the 10 hr oil change. I followed the procedures from the owners manual, drained the changed the filter. But I can't seem to get more than 1 qt to go in to the fill tank by the handlebar. It is almost as if it won't take it down to the engine. i ran the engine , red light goes off but oil want to spurt out the fill cap. Anyone have similar problems ??. how much oil does the actual crankcase hold (less the fill tank). I'm worried that there is no oil in the engine, or i have a plugged line from the tank to the engine.
Thanks for all advice.

Look at where the hose comes out of the tank in the front. The hose runs from the tank down under the radiator and back up to the motor. That line has a screen in it where it comes out of the tank. Take that line off at the tank and unscrew the fitting. Check that screen for trash. I never knew about the screen until I joined the forums and it gets pretty nasty from time to time. I check mine every other oil change. I also always change filter and drain the tank and the case. Mine holds a gallon of oil when its empty. I also put an oil guage on mine so I know how much pressure I have at all times. PM me if you need any help.
