drag motor vs. hill shooter
ill update my picture section soon. Its been what...3 years? lol i dont own any of those bikes anymore.
math is math, but the question was "80 peak vs. 80 peak" a 2-stroke will win. The new 2-strokes have a very broad torque curve, most of this is in part due to the advancement in pipe technology.
for what its worth we are now at 115hp on a 420cc twin. It makes 62ft/lbs torque. lets race

Build your motor around the torque curve and horsepower will take care of itself.
A good question would be how do you make torque (there is a thread about that). A better question would be how do you keep your torque from signing off early?

The problem with an apples to apples race between a 2 stroke and a 4 stroke is you have to add weight to the 2 stroke to make it fair. You will never build a DS that is as light as a banshee or 250R can be.........
I have to say though that I have seen our little old 60 hp alky DS at 340 lbs pull our 70 hp banshee that is 300 lbs........both dynoed and weighed at the same place. On the hill the 4 stroke took it every time.

heres a stupid but serious ? say the bike has 80 hp and 80lbs of torque is that with a 150 lb rider. what about when the 300 lb guy jumps on it that has to kill the hp and the torque dont you think? when there saying it has so many lbs of torque or horse power at the rear wheals what are they comparing it to?

Beech, I'm saying that if all the numbers (weight) are equal and HP numbers are equal, the 4 will out run because of more tq. I'm not saying that two strokes are week by any stretch of the imagination. Just that math doesn't support the 2 winning. It's all about moving mass. I promise you that if you race a 80hp DS and a 80hp Shee. The Shee is heavy at 375 and the DS is light at 450, the she WILL win every time. But if you have one of BOMBERS bikes at 315 and a Shee at 315. The shee is getting smoked. Bombers DS might be making 80hp but it's making much more tq. Feel me?
Also, I could care less about the bikes on your pic page...... but I still want you to update everything else.
