Default Stock cam timing question.

Thanks for the input men.

The reason I'm still using stock cams is that I'm not sure what cams I will need. I knew what I didn't like about the stock power curve (or lack of it). After I blew it up, I only replaced the parts I needed. Piston, valves and bore. Once its together and ride it, if I feel its still too much of a terd, I can tell HP Reasearch what I like and don't like and they can give me the right cam based off of that. Otherwise, now I have to guess. Cams should be easy to change later.

222, I will take some pics tonight and put them on my picture page. Thats the only way I know to show them to you. I hope the piston is not that close to hitting if I am a few degrees off. That's not the kind of motor I want to build. Just gas and go.

Default Stock cam timing question.

I posted a couple pics in my bio thingie. One way is close and the other is pretty far out. This should be a common isssue since its a piston and comp ratio a few people are using. Maybe I'm the only one using stock cams. However, the aftermarket cams have to work both ways.

Default Stock cam timing question.

Pic 1 and 2 look perfect, NOT pic3 and 4.

Default Stock cam timing question.

Pics 1 and 2 are clearly the closest to stock position. So that is a little retarded exhaust and advanced intake. That small amount will not interfere with the piston? Here I thought I was going to have to re-dowel pin the gears. Thanks for your help.
